Sturdy, Easy-to-Use, Value-Priced Rugged Case for 9.7" (Model A1822) iPad.
After my attempt to protect my 2017 9.7" iPad (Model A1822) using an OtterBox Defender case damaged the screen and was unsuccessful (despite going so far as to remove the Defender's screen protector), I worried I'd have trouble finding a rugged case to protect my iPad during an upcoming family trip. Based on the SUPCASE's good reviews (and its appealing price) I ordered the Unicorn Beetle Pro Series case. When the case arrived, I noticed the packaging included information for a website for detailed installation instructions. After the Defender disaster (which caught me off guard as I LOVE my iPhone 6 Defender case) I watched the video. Honestly, I would have been fine without watching it. The installation process was (for me, at least) intuitive and simple. Moreover, the case (including its built-in screen protector) fit over the amFilm Glass Screen Protector. (While I wonder if the double layers may retain too much heat for the "health" of the iPad, the extra protection is comforting.) Despite the double-layered screen protection, the touchscreen is as responsive as ever. Will I rely on this case to protect my iPad from falling down a rocky cliff into the ocean? No. Will I rely on this case to protect my iPad from falling onto a tile floor? *fingers crossed* Yes. I also like the white/grey color I chose. I'm hoping that the white color will help the iPad stay cooler than it would be in a darker case--especially when used outdoors in the summer. I agree with other's assessment that the flip-stand seems a bit flimsy. I'm hoping our family can manage to be gentle with it so that it doesn't break off. And I've not figured out how it'll stand the iPad vertically (I don't think it does.). But given the product's apparent overall quality, ease of use and price, I definitely recommend this case to others.

Durable, tough, nice color
I just received this cover for my iPad so I haven't experienced to much with it. It was somewhat easy to install. You do have to be sure you put the bottom of the iPad into the bottom cover first. Otherwise the tab for the plug gets stuck and you have to start over. The one thing that I wished they had mentioned before I even started to put this thing on my iPad was that there are 2 plastic films protecting the screen area. One on the outside (which I saw) but there is also one on the INSIDE! Very frustrating to find this out AFTER I had already put the iPad into the case and snapped it closed tight. Took a bit to get it off but at the same it its nice to know that it's not just going to fall apart. Took some effort to pry it apart so I could peal the protective film off the inside of the screen area. But once I had it all together again it seems to be a nice, durable, tough product. The tabs close nicely and make the ports easily accessible. Color is bright. The iPad screen works very well through the plastic cover. The fingerprint button works just fine. No issues. So far a nice product for the money. Advertisement made it seem like it was metal or shiny. It's not. It's all rubber and plastic. I was a little bummed to see it wasn't shiny like in the advertisement. But still very satisfied so far.

Not a bad case for the price
Great case! It fit my Ipad perfectly. It is lightweight in comparison to another brand I had for a different Ipad. My only issue is with the kickstand with I noticed was kind of flimsy. It broke within the first month from normal use. Not a deal breaker on the case itself though. ***UPDATE 7/2022** My backpack fell out of my motorcycle's pannier case while I was riding on the freeway. The backpack which contained my Ipad and other personal belonging was ran over by a vehicle traveling behind me. A passing motorist informed me that my side case was open. Using my Iphone to track the Ipad, I located it in a parking lot. The backpack got wedged between the wheel well and the front driver's side tire of the vehicle that ran over it. The driver of the vehicle was unaware of that the backpack was rubbing against the front left tire and continued to his destination. His destination was a resturant located just off the freeway, six miles from where he had ran over the backpack. The Ipad was bowed from being ran over by the car and the screen was damaged beyond repair. But my Ipad still had power and the ability to send a signal for me to locate it. I was impressed with the toughness of this case and ordered a second one for my replacement Ipad.

Great case. Screen protector just okay.
I have a Supcase Unciorn Beetle on my Galaxy 7 Edge and it has been a great case. I've had it for almost 2 years and have dropped my phone several times. It's done a great job protecting my phone. So when I saw the same case available for the iPad, I had no reservations purchasing another one. The case itself is what I expected. The fit is snug, the corners are tight. It is definitely durable. It just feels solid in your hand. All of the access ports line up perfectly with the iPad. There was some confusion regarding the photos on the sales page, because some show a hole for the mic, while others don't. There IS a hole on the back side of the case for the mic. I've only use the kickstand a couple times, and it holds well. The kickstand is a lighter gauge plastic than the body of the case, so I can see some potential problems down the line, but so far so good. Assembly was easy. The plastic front cover goes on first, then then you attach the back side by working the rubber gasket around the front piece until everything locks in. There is a video link in the instructions that come with the case so you can watch a demo installation. I recommend watching the video first. My only complaint is the built-in screen cover. This is actually part of the front plastic piece of the case. The cover itself is responsive, and I've had no problems at all with the functioning of my iPad through the screen protector. But as you can see in the photo, there is a rainbow effect that is very apparent when the iPad is off. The good news is that it is not really noticeable when the iPad screen is on. I'm not really sure if the screen protector is supposed to adhere to the screen or if it is just meant to fit over it. I've read some reviews where the buyer cut out the screen protector and replaced it with another one, so I guess that's an option if it really bothers you. But as it's not really noticeable with the screen powered on, I'll just leave it as is. Overall, I would recommend this as a good case to protect your iPad.

Really wanted Urban Armor Gear UAG
So I bought a new 5th gen iPad and I had been looking at UAG and their design. I like the quasi-military, Pansonic toughbook-like look of their designs. My first choice was to get either a new Surface Pro 6 in black or a iPad Pro 12 with a UAG case, but I couldn't justify the high cost of the hardware or the case, even though I thought it looked cool. So I get a deal on a refurb 5th gen iPad directly from Apple for like $240 and wanted a UAG type case. This was the one that looked best for the part. Assembly was not as easy as like an Otterbox. The plastic frame took some doing to figure out how to inch it on without it popping back of. The diagram that they provide sort of helped. I was worried about the frame scratching something. After I got the frame on, the next issue was I forgot to remove the screen protector film. There are protective plastic wrapping on both the outside and inside of the main rubber housing. I like how they designed it to be part of the case vs. the usual try to stick it on the screen without bubbles or trapping some piece of dirt w/in the screen protector forever. I really like the look. It does have that UAG, military look especially since I got it in black. The main downside, though I knew this already is there is no screen protector or flap that covers the screen so you have to be careful if you put it in a backpack to make sure items don't rest or apply pressure to the screen. The tilt of the screen is only one setting and a bit flimsy. Overall, very happy with the design, look, quality for less than half the price of a UAG version.

This is a good, durable case
This product is wonderful. It holds up, retains its brand new quality, and protects your device. ATTENTION: I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY 2018 9.7 *REGULAR, NON PRO* IPAD, AND IT FITS. (when I was looking to buy this, I was really nervous about it only fitting the 2017 version, but this works for the 2018 VERSION too. The only issue I have with it is it doesn't have a spot for you to turn the ringer on and off. what the heck is up with that? What iPad case doesn't have a spot to turn the ringer off or on? Yeah, big issue. Fix that. Otherwise, this is a SMART PURCHASE for an AFFORDABLE PRICE. I was really, really pleased with it. Absolutely love the kickstand and the vibrant color. (I got the blue) It includes a really nice screen protector, and it's fairly easy to put together if you're able to easily snap things together. *I, personally, had trouble with it*

Sturdy with Excellent Protection!!
Very cool case! Was looking for something durable, yet cute and this turned out to be perfect. The case has very attractive colors and design. It's easy for kids to hold, allowing for a firm grip that doesn't slip from your hands. I love the beveled edges that raise the border of the case up slightly from the screen to prevent the screen getting hit. The screen protector was not something I originally looked for in a case, but it turned out to be extremely useful - I would not go without one now. Especially if you have kids, the screen protector allows you to easily clean/wipe the screen without damaging it. The stand in the back is a nice feature as well - very sturdy, locks in place and allows for hands free viewing. Highly recommended! Very happy with this purchase.

Great Protection, Excellent Fit!
I got one of these (Beetle Defense) for my iPad 2 a couple of years ago, and it ended up saving that unit from a disastrous drop on it's camera corner. It also otherwise kept the unit in as-new condition, so I'll be getting top dollar for it on the "used" market. Which is what brought me to this Beetle Unicorn for my new Gen5 iPad, as there was no way I was going to pay the idiotic asking price for an Otterbox that can only offer similar protection. On the advice of other reviewers, I (with a fair amount of difficulty) removed that first case's plastic screen protector before installing it, and replaced it with a nice glass protector. Once that was done, that old case was flawless. With this new case, I decided to try it with the standard plastic protector first, as the other reviews suggested that it was acceptable. So, I installed it "as delivered". Now, I don't have access to a lab-grade, dust-free environment for these kinds of operations, so I cleaned off the kitchen table and shook out a linen dish towel to work on. With much blowing, wiping, pinching, and swearing I got the case applied/assembled onto my new iPad (VERY snug fit!)...and only ended up with one tiny piece of black grit (plastic chip?) under the clear plastic, near the upper right corner of the display. Tiny, but apparently large enough that it is causing a slight pucker in the plastic protector at that point. So, I'm dreading reopening the case to try to blow it out, as I'll probably end up letting more contaminants in during the process. The Unicorn case seems every bit as sturdy as the last one. It fits as though it's painted on, which, overall, is a very good thing. This deal is top notch. All access ports, button covers, speaker openings, etc., are located perfectly and operate just like you would wish them to. The shape of the case makes it much easier for my large hands to handle the iPad. To me, the added mass is negligible, but I'm well used to a case like this one on my old iPad 2. I can't comment on the effectiveness/durability of the kick stand, as I almost never use my iPad in landscape orientation, and that's the only way the stand works. Consequently, I haven't tried it yet. Regarding my "four star" rating, rather than five stars...I don't understand why anyone at Supcase would think that the trouble they must have gone through to include the plastic screen protector in the design would be worth it, as it's just going to do what plastic always does (get scratched/foggy, or worse), and will need to be replaced anyway. They could sell this same case cheaper if they just left out the plastic protector altogether, allowing us to seek our own solutions...and in light of the nicely-raised edge of the case that surrounds the display, the solution for many could be no protector at all. For the rest, a glass protector is WAY superior to this setup. End of rant. Even with that, overall, this case is worth the price, especially when compared to an Otterbox, or all the "half-the-price" cases with the grippy-but-questionable soft rubber on the outside. JMO... Update, as of 7/8/2018: OK, two days ago I couldn't take this case's plastic screen protector anymore, so I replaced it with a nice glass one. The result is now perfection. All problems solved. What problems? Well, I use a rubber-tipped stylus with my iPad. The plastic protector grabs and pulls at that rubber tip like crazy. Additionally, and I know that I have read reviews here that say the plastic protector does not change the response of the iPad's display to touch inputs, MY experience is that the plastic protector absolutely DOES affect the display's responsiveness...for the worse. I didn't really use my new iPad for very long before adding the case, and had always used my stylus with it so I didn't immediately notice how much additional pressure I had to use to get it to respond...but after a few days, I realized that I was taring up the tip on my stylus just getting the iPad to respond. So, I took the front of the case back off to see how much trouble it would be to remove the plastic protector...and inadvertently tore the protector loose from the front of the case while trying to pull the case apart. So, plastic protector removal: NOT a problem after all. Just push on the protector from the front of the opening, toward the back of the opening and it'll pop loose. There's a very thin bead of rubber-like adhesive holding the protector and the case front together, and it comes right apart. On my case, all of that adhesive stayed on the underside of the case front and, being rather anal, I took the time to remove all of it. It probably wasn't necessary, and it may even serve as a seal of sorts with the replacement glass protector, but either way, the case works absolutely fine with the glass protector that I chose (0.33 thickness). It's a perfect, snug fit. And the responsiveness? BIG improvement. In this regard, the glass protector actually IS indistinguishable from no protector at all. I'm reducing my four-star rating for this case to three stars, because I had to spend an additional $10 for a glass screen protector, combined with the cost of the case, in order to make myself "whole" on the deal. Now, the case/protector combination is everything I had originally hoped the case would be.

Case fitting is perfect but screen has that plastic-feel feedback
It's sturdy and provides overall protection to the iPad. It has a very chic colour and it suits my daughter and wife well. Installation is very easy. Though, I have a tiny bit concern. The case has a plastic screen thus protecting your iPad's screen but when you try resuming your operation (swiping, touching, selecting, etc.) it has this feedback feel of a plastic. I just hope that the fitting with the plastic screen cover would be more sleek and smoother compared to the case which is really great. My wife noticed it and she was a bit a bothered. It would take some time to get used to the "plastic feedback". Overall, this is a good buy and would recommend to others but would mention that "plastic-feel feedback".

Good Quality and protection over past 3 years
I purchased this case after trying a few others that didn't fit/ suit my needs. I have a 2017 Ipad and this fit great. I do have a glass screen protector on the Ipad already, so the screen protector on this case was a second screen covering which made it a bit tight, but it worked. the front panel of this case goes on first and the back loops over it for a double wall of protection. The inner front panel has over time cracked in 3 out of 4 corners and the kick stand just gave up and cracked on me today. But the case is still holding up well, and would recommend. My ipad is 4 years old and looks brand new still and has no signs of wear, which shows the case is doing the job well. I use the kick stand a fair amount so came looking for the same case as a replacement. I shall be ordering again.
