Review: Sent in good condition - It is growing. It took to the ground right away. Would buy again
Review: Most novel plant I’ve ever bought.. ever. - As a child, visiting Florida to see grandparents, I fell in love with palm trees in general. Once I saw a coconut palm I pleaded with my father to retrieve a coconut for me. In Rhode Island, he split it with an axe and I had its contents for dessert and that was that. But, what if that coconut received the conditions it needed to become its own baby tree? I got that answer when I picked up a white bag (like you’d get clothing delivered in) from my concierge. It had an awkward shape, bulbous at the bottom and padded with bubble wrap. I searched my memory for what the hell I’d ordered that lined up with this thing in my hands. The first cut revealed its tall mast of foliage and I laughed aloud instantly flooded by memories of both what I’d ordered and my childhood April vacations. Here it was. A grayish seed with its palm coming out from one end and thick roots. It looked vaguely damp, and I gave it a shower in a big Pyrex bowl for the first time. That was in June and I’ve enjoyed it since then. Some little gnats had hitchhiked on this seed but I’ve since killed them using a diluted neem oil spray and some touch up tea tree oil water sprays. Some white fuzzy spots appeared and disappeared just as quickly by rubbing an alcohol wipe over them quickly. I’ve heard this palm will not survive in the long haul but my enclosed photo in planter is from today (8/9/2020) and I’m enjoying its unique wide, ribbed fronds. I may have to invest in grow lights for the winter but should it last that long I would be willing to do that. It’s a neat plant and if I had a patio I would let it receive bright, unfiltered sunlight to bask in. Currently it lives by my giant mill windows happily enough.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: how tall can this hawiian coconut palm tree will be?**
A: Not sure as to this one, could be 30 -60 feet tall if planted outdoors. Some coconuts will only get 10 - 15 feet tall, but not sure about this one. If you leave it in a pot, it won't get that tall as the roots will restrain it. If you aren't going to plant outside, they struggle through the winter. I got mine in November and it's been indoors and is barely making it. Good luck.

**Q: can you grow if placed directly in water?**
A: Some coconuts start in water, but growing until maturity.....unless the level of water is very low and it is mixed with soil.

**Q: sence it grows in tropical climets could it grow in desert climets. I bet a friends on this debate if it could or not befor she buys it**
A: maybe, it grows in the PNW

**Q: What typ of coconut tree**
A: It is a standard coconut tree, not dwarf. Ours is now 3 years old. It lives on our deck in summer months & bring it in the sun room over winter. The trunk is 3 ft tall, approximately 6 ft total. We live in zone 8, but it remains potted & portable for the move back inside in the fall when frost threatens.

### ⭐ Tiny and dying
*by J***O on March 10, 2022*

I'm disappointed in the state that the coconut showed up in. I was really excited based on the reviews I seen and it showed up earlier than I expected. However when I opened it up, it was tiny, brown, and shriveled up. I took a picture of it next to a regular oconut I bought at the store without its husk for comparison. There is no way this coconut will survive. Ill be suprised if it is still alive. I have ordered live plants through Amazon before and they show up I'm good condition, ok condition at worst. But this is unacceptable.
