Easy-Install Two-Stage Stairwell Drain Cover Resists Yard Waste Clogs and Flooded Basements

The Drain Defender works great to keep leaves and brush out of the drain. I thought the price seemed a little high, but I am glad now I bought it. It is very good quality and was easy to install.

This has saved so much headache and sweat and maybe a couple tears. I have a drain in the back steps from my below grade garage that would clog if a leaf landed in the same zip code. My garage would then promptly flood and I'd have a mess to clean up. Enter the drain defender. It installed in a literal second, sits pretty solidly where I placed it, and stops all the junk that accumulates from blocking my pathetic drain. It handles heavy downpours and high winds and Akitas stomping on it with ease.

Just received this product after looking for something exactly like it for days1 It hasn't rained since install, but it fit perfectly and I can see that installs as advertised. So, I ran some water in the walk-up stair well where the Drain Defender is installed. There was some debris already there and it worked well. Whereas the product seems to be legit, the delivery was not. My item was delivered in a simple plastic bag and the box was destroyed! The edge of the product was hanging out of the box but was not damaged that I could see. Please do better shipping Amazon!

I bought two of these drain defenders last year, and was very hopeful that they would work. I have been fighting a losing battle with heavy rains in an enclosed patio for over 20 years! The drains would always plug after a hard rain, and I would have to wade in ankle deep water to unclog them. After buying these drains, I have not had to clean out the drains one time, regardless of how hard it has rained, or how much debris collected around them! I just had to come back on here to let everyone know these drains are definitely worth the money - and more!

This well designed product was just what I needed for my basement stairwell drain which would often get blocked by leaves, "helicopters", and other plant debris. Even though I checked and cleared out the drain area weekly, during a rainstorm leaves would blow in and more than once I had flooding in my basement when water couldn't drain and then came in under my basement door. I bought pads to place inside the door to help soak up water, but then I found this drain defender. It is very sturdy and keeps all leaves and debris away from the drain so that water goes down easily. What a relief to finally have my problem solved!

We've had this for about six months now and it's working great. We have a 1960s home with a walk up basement which has a drain at the bottom. That drain line then runs beneath our foundation to link up to the waste line, and over the years it has become full of debris from rain storms. We get a ton of leaves in that stairwell in the fall as well. So in an effort to hopefully never have that drain get so bad that either it won't let water through or the sub-foundation line breaks, we decided to try one of these. So far it seems to be working extremely well to keep new debris from getting to the drain line.

I put this in the well leading to our basement from the outside where we often have standing water during rain storms due to debris and leaves accumulating over the grate. This is a plastic cover that just sits over the grate and lets the water drain because it would require a lot of leaf accumulation to cover this. The installation is simply to put the pin in the middle to hold the top and bottom together and then put it over the grate. The build design and quality are excellent.

This item surpasses all expectations. Extremely robust, weather and traffic tolerant. Protects drains from leaves, dirt and debris. Absolutely excellent product and functions as advertised.

A previous cover was causing more blockages than it prevented, this cover stops build up of sticks and leafs keeping the water flowing. Easy to fit, easy to clean, great product.

So far it has solved the issue of water build up when leaves and debris cover the drain. You just need to place it directly on the drain. Will have to see how long it lasts.
