It does not need to use an special time cards, and the clock does not "know" what it is printing on. It just makes the ink impression (cartridge ink ribbon in it) on whatever is inserted in it. They do make "job" time cards for job work however, for use in any side loading time clock like this one. **Q: How is the unit powered?
