Not only is it beautiful, the ring is sturdy, my left hand feels comfortable on the neck, and the tuning pegs keep it in tune. Virtually no adjustments needed to set it up and get it ready to play. Took about 30 minutes to put the bridge in place and stretch the strings so they stay in tune. After a few days of playing I decided to adjust the coordinator rod to increase the relief and this went smoothly with no issues. I was hesitant to buy a cheap Chinese banjo, but after playing it for a few days I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of this instrument for the price. I've tried out the Goodtime at music shops and I don't think that there is a $300 difference in quality. It's being made from rock maple makes up for that if you aren't trying to do Scruggs' style.I took a close look at it and you could add a ring tone ring or with more work a Whyte Lady style Tone ring if you don't want to up grade. It as corners cut to make the price but it is a serious instrument.
