Full Circle Fresh Air Odor-Free Kitchen Compost Bin, Black and White

I tried a round bin, a hanging bin, and then this one and THIS is the winner! It sits on my counter, tucked into a corner by my fridge. Pretty, no smell, easy large opening to access, and does the job! Only struggle is loading the bags. The bags that came with it are junk so I used ones I purchased separately. Putting the top on needs to be done slowly so that all four corners are lined up with the bag up around each corner so this takes time. I’m keeping this one!

I love it. I'm an avid gardener and had been wanting to compost for a long time. My original plan was to purchase an outdoor composter but that wasn't quite in my budget. I decided on this as a compromise and I'm thrilled that I did. It's extremely convenient to pop open the lid and toss in whatever is left over from preparing food..orange peels, egg shells, avocado peels, potato peels to name a few. I have this conveniently situated next to my sink on the countertop and it matches my kitchen décor and appliances and actually looks cute. There is zero odor. I just filled my first bag completely after 6 days and took it out to my garden bed. I've started doing what is called 'trench composting'. This involves digging into the soil behind my plants in the shape of a rectangle and digging about 18 to 24 inches deep. I place the biodegradable bag in there and then cover back over with soil. As Spring approaches I am really looking forward to watching my plants grow bigger and healthier with the extra nutritional boost of kitchen scraps that would otherwise go to waste. I love that I've found a simple and easy way to compost with the help of this unit. I did a lot of research on kitchen composters and am confident I purchased ones of the best ones out there. Easy to clean and use. Looks good and handles a fair amount of compost. Used for more than 5 years before the spring for the lid broke. Bought another one of the same. Highly recommend.

UPDATE (6.9.24) I originally said no fruit flies but sadly, there’s many 😭 I still love my box but the fruit flies are still a problem. The compostable bags I bought are still going strong and I love them so much. The metal bar that holds the bag down is a little annoying but it’s fine. ••••••• So far it’s AMAZING. NO MESS: Compostable bags (bought separately. GreFusion brand. Get those!) You don’t have to worry about hauling a heavy thing outside to dump and clean out! NO MESS! Since the bags are compostable, you just toss them in your compost and done!) NO SMELL: The box has an open ventilation system to reduce molding and keep the smell away. (It literally never smells! Our other one smelled horrible.) NO BUGS: In the past, we had such a hard time with fruit flies that we had to stop composting which was sad. But with this one, NO gnats, flies or fruit flies! 😱 LOOOOOVE it. GET IT! And if anything goes wrong, go to customer service and get onto chat. Ask to speak for a rep and tell them if you have any problems. They’re great! Or if you have troubles with them, contact the company and see if they can help. Good luck!

After going through two of the Oxo bins and having them both fall apart we decided to try this one and I love it. I love that it’s bigger so we can fit more and don’t have to empty it twice per meal if we are heavy on veggie scraps. I love that it uses bio bags. I love that it is easy to take apart and wash. I love that it doesn’t stink. The bio bags that come with it are junk so don’t even bother to try them. We get the bio bags from Costco and those work great. The only downside is that you can’t really use the bin without a bio bag so just be aware of that if you aren’t looking to purchase bags on top of a bin. I prefer the bags anyway so it’s been perfect for us.

I love that this pops open with the click of a button. So handy on the countertop while cutting up veggies, etc.

I was super excited to receive this product. I just began composting and was looking for a countertop bin to hold scraps before I bring them outside. I was hoping this bin would do a good job cutting back on odors and flies in my household. Unfortunately, this isn't quite an odor-free bin so much as less odors and the fruit flies were still very much able to crawl into the bin through the holes at the top. The population may have even grown. A small issue is that the button doesn't quite snap into place with ease once a bag is in place. However, the worst issue is the design of the bags. I emptied out a fair bit of tomato pulp into the bin before leaving the house for about three days. When I returned, I noticed a rancid smell and thought maybe something in the trash had done it but then I saw my countertop. It appears that the bag just split open and dumped all the liquids out onto my countertop and the floor. While I can appreciate that these bags are themselves compostable, it seems ridiculous to have such a bag when the bin itself is open at the bottom. I'm so disappointed and unfortunately, I'll be looking for a new bin once my bags run out which will be soon since I clearly can not leave them for more than a couple of days.

We used to used a plastic bin with paper towels. What a nightmare! At the risk of sounding overly dramatic, this compost bin has changed my life. No more nastiness and flies; just a quick change-out of the compostable bag. I don't even lift the wire arm to secure. The bags stretch over the sides securely. There have been no smells or flies with this compost solution. I couldn't be more pleased! Note: I tried the 3 gal Biobag bags for replacements and they split so easily, I couldn't even get one bag to work. Now I use the Full Circle Fresh Air Biodegradable Compost Bags, 2.5 Gallon from Amazon and they are perfect.
