Ensure Original Nutrition Shake with 9 Grams of Protein, Meal Replacement Shakes, Milk Chocolate, 8 fl oz (Pack of 16)

My M.D. asked me to start having one of these a day over 12 years ago, and Amazon has the best price that I can find. The big box stores normally do not carry the Milk Chocolate flavor, which is my favorite. One thing I love about these is they list the Vitamin K level, which I have to monitor now because of health problems. I use these also as a milk substitute when I’m having a bowl of Cocoa Krispies . I love to freeze these for a nice chocolate ‘ice milk’ treat. Normally it takes about 3 hours, so I just keep one in the freezer and switch them out when I want one. An ice tea spoon will fit nicely inside this bottle’s neck. Just remember to tighten the lid back down after it’s completely frozen so it doesn’t get that freezer burn skin, like ice cream does. EXPIRES: 10/2016 The Strawberry Ensure is also a 5-Star item. Chilled, it reminds me of Strawberry Quik . When frozen it reminds me of my grandmother's homemade strawberry ice milk, minus the seeds. Now the Café Latte Ensure, I don't like it. To me, it has a very chemical taste. Reminds me of a coffee laced with macadamia nuts and 4 spoonfuls of Coffee-Mate Powder . I like Coffee-Mate, but I don't like macadamia nuts. Won't be buying this flavor again.

This is always 5 star with me But I got one bad case-NOT Amazon fault-but Abbotts Co. 2 months ago I had 3 bad cases out of all I get but found that a local pharmacy kept it wrong?-I think so off to anther large store my son went for me & got 1 ba d case out of 3. Yes I wrote all the data down off of bottles- as some were bulging-never try them those cases were the most horrible taste -I did call Abbott customer & got a very disturbing 20 minutes-only to have to read & re-read her all the numbers on the bad ones-I hung up as so upset with her. Now I feel better & use this 3-4 times a day & I love it. ..have for years. My fear is someone who never had this & was in hospital etc & was handed a bad one-naturally they would never use it. Amazon is really great about this problem & extremely helpful too-bless their souls!

I am having this sent to my elderly mom who has trouble getting out to go shopping. It really helps her and she feels it tastes so good, it is like a treat for her and not something she has because she needs nutrition. I love how Amazon has the auto subscribe thing going on and I can make sure she gets a case of this every month. I was suggesting to my boyfriend that he do this for his mom as well, we noticed that HIS mom was out of her supply of Ensure when we visited. We have seen that both our elderly mothers seem to perk up and do better when they have been having this drink regularly, there must be something to it!

Since I was told I have to put on weight it's been hard to give up salads, which I love. I haven't been able to eat enough to make my doctor happy so he told me to drink protein shakes. I tried at least half-a-dozen, most of which tasted like liquid cardboard. I wasn't expecting Ensure to be any better and was really surprised when I drank the first chocolate one as though it was human food, not paper. Now I drink 1 or 2 or more everyday so that I can still enjoy my salads without worrying about not eating enough. I can't be that positive about the vanilla, but I would never order vanilla ice-cream either so you'll have to try that flavor on your own.

My husband and I love this stuff. I have gut issues so sometimes I'm on a liquid diet. Ensure always seems to be a safe thing for me to drink. I have one every morning since I'm not a breakfast person first thing. If I'm having an IBS-C episode I'll drink several a day along with homemade soups. My husband likes to drink one late afternoon as a snack to hold him over til dinner. We also keep several cases in reserve for emergencies like storm outages or if we had an earthquake and couldn't get out for a period of time. My doctor said 4 a day would keep us going for a while.

I bought this when my husband came home from the hospital. But it is high in calories and now we buy the 'lite' version - it tastes good.

Doesn't taste bad or chalky like some meal replacement drinks do. They do need to be shaken quite a bit as the first one I tried I only shook slightly and the bottom had a fairly heavy coating on the bottom of the bottle. It still tasted good but I wonder if it would have been better if I'd shaken it more. Being only eight ounces just about anyone can finish a bottle in a single serving while some of the sixteen ounce drinks I've tried were,, at times, hard to finish. Best when refrigerated.

It's the perfect treat for my youngest son. I bought it for the protein and I let me son have two a day to put on some weight. He really likes it. You actually get more for your money on Amazon than any other grocery store. Price is great and delivery is quick.
