The reason you want a variable ND filter as oppose to a fixed ND Filter is because you want complete control of the light coming into your camera. The Sun does not I repeat does not shine consistently, minute by minute it changes. This filter allows you to dial in the exact amount of light you need to control the exposure. You want to lowest ISO and correct shutter speed to have the highest quality image when recording. Trust me this is my second one I’ve bought for different cameras and I am Sooo pleased with its performance. It has a slight vignette that is introduced during its use but I’m 💯 ok with that as opposed to an over exposed shot, that’s just amateur.
