The hack saw blade alone is all I used to cut the tabs off flush. I uses the knife to cut any extra plastic blocking the extender tabs. I would like to point out to those complaining about this product if you wanted something specific for your car then spend more money and get one. This product provides ALOT for a small price point. Yes, it not perfect but it can easily be solved in seconds with a box knife. Took me less than 30 minutes to put together, just follow the book. It didn't fit my radio exactly, the right side bumps out like a 16th of an inch.
