Great for White Concrete!
I don't often leave reviews, but because I went through so awfully much trouble trying to find a sealer for my white micro-cement projects that I hope this review would assist people with their search. I had both my shower and kitchen countertop in white micro-cement and would like to find a non-toxic sealer that does not alter the texture or color of the micro-cement. I first used Eco-Tuft but the sealer turned yellow and I had to chemically stripped the sealer from my shower (worst experience ever and I don't want anyone to have to go through that). I went ahead and tried Tuff Duck on my countertop first and it was amazing! It remained white! At first I didn't want any sheen, but Tuff Duck leaves a satin sheen finish that I rather liked. I coated five thin layers, but sometime if I left water on the surface too long, it would leave a mark, the watermark did disappear after it dried. Feeling safe with the sealer not turning yellow, I applied it to my micro-cement shower, and it worked! But I also don't want to be misleading, I sealed my shower with a penetrating sealer Eagle Natural Sealer first in multiple coats, before apply several coats of Tuff Duck. That completely blocked any water from penetrating, yes I checked everyday. The sealer surface was not slick, so my shower floor was not slippery at all. There might be a better way to do this, with different and more complicated and probably better sealers, but in my limited trial-and-error experience, this worked for my projects. I would say I would use this sealer for all my projects if I could. Simple to use and non-toxic, little smell, great price point. I also cannot speak to longevity, yet. However, one thing that Tuff Duck can improve on is the cap and bottle sealer, both of my bottles leaked in transit, one of them had to be returned because 1/4 of it leaked. And maybe have bottles of larger quantity?

Tuff Duck is Totally Awesome
I used Tuff Duck for the first time today. I was both surprised and extremely happy with the results. First the surprised. We had a kitchen remodel about five years ago. We made the decision to have concrete counters installed. After the installation the workers "sealed " the counters with a concrete sealer. They stated "this is all you need to do' besides cleaning them, and they will look great. I also noticed they hardly used any sealer. They would put a little on the corner of the rag and rub it on a very large area of counter top. For all I know, it could have been water in that can, because the counter was dull and didn't appear to be any different then before. A year or so later we did try another product (maybe the same as what they used) and used more product. It was a bit better when we got finished, but still looked dull and lackluster. So we started a search for the "right" product. I chose Tuff Duck after reading the hype on Amazon. When I received the product and read the directions, I thought it was going to be a huge job to do this. The hardest part was finding a temporary spot for everything on the counter. This is where the suprise kicks in.The aplication was really quick and simple. We used a small paint roller to apply the Tuff Duck and a microfiber pad.to wipe the excess off. I did dunk the pad into the tray of product and wring it out first, before using. I repeated the process an hour later rolling and wipeing the other direction. The difference is gargantuan. Our counters have a smooth touch and a very high luster. They now look like I thought they should when the were new. I can't imagine them looking any better, and thats the happy part. If the product holds that luster for a reasonable time I wouldn't be able to ask for more. Did I mention the reasonable price on this product? Is very reasonable . I only used half a bottle on our counters and L shaped island.

Easy to use and worked well on a concrete tabletop
Easy to use and worked well on a concrete tabletop. It left a white residue after dying so I reapplied a third time and used a terrycloth towel to wipe it off before it dried. Product shipped without a cap in a padded envelope. but fortunately (for the postal service) the foil protection seal did not fail. Leaves a satin finish - not glossy.

best sealer ive used
I needed a sealer for slate that would protect it from our harsh Wisconsin winters. I installed slate to our hydronically heated stoop several years ago - using what was supposedly 'frost proof' slate - and sealed with a product from Superior (penetrating matte sealer) which didn't alter its original appearance. Nonetheless, the slate listellos I used on the leading edge of the tread began to shale off and fail after year 3, undermining the structural support of several tiles. That resulted in bad things, which I then spent a couple of days repairing, and was determined to avoid in the future. The first thing that was apparent to me is that the listellos which failed were a very light colored - almost vanilla - slate. It's clearly considerably softer than the darker version. I replaced the failed pieces with denser (darker) slate. After several days of grout curing, I was ready to apply Wet Look from Black Diamond. I was concerned about a sealer overly darkening my tile and grout, but enough other reviews convinced me that wasn't going to happen. I used a large pored sponge for application. The sealer goes on a milky blue, which aids in coverage and prevention of puddling. The immediate effect on the grout was darkening it from a milk chocolate to a dark chocolate, and the slate itself losing its chalky appearance. As it dried, though, the grout returned to its original color, and the slate slightly lightened, giving me the best of both worlds. Both the grout and the tile itself now have a beautiful sheen! A day after application, it rained. The leading edge of my stoop (the steps) got wet, and the water beaded like it would on a freshly waxed car. I think it looks absolutely fantastic; I could not be more happy with the outcome! I cannot imagine a buyer finding a better combination of price and results.

Yes to this product for faux concrete countertops with Ardex feather finish
Used this product on my diy concrete faux countertop using Ardex Feather Finish (found multiple tutorials on Pinterest). It looks amazing! It gives it a slight shine and kind of wet look which is exactly what I wanted. I have had at least 5 people comment on the faux concrete countertops about how nice they look and even have two friends who want to copy the look. So far, it seems to be durable. Water beads up on it and has repelled against stains. It has only been about a month so I will be sure to come back and update if I see issues rising. In addition, I used the same method on my fireplace mantel with Tuff Duck Sealer as a top coat and love it equally as much as the faux countertops. The directions state to put one coat on, wait 1 hour, and put 2nd coat on in 90 degree angle to first coat.- Easy enough. The smell is not too strong and it dried quickly. I highly recommend and will be using this product on all future cement projects. You also can't complain about price when compared to other top coat sealer products.

Butter and oil get through and stain your concrete.
Update: The below still holds true for the fireplace, however last week I refinished my counter tops and am disappointed with the level of protection. With three coats of this things still get through and stain the concrete. I realize you should clean up but a fleck of butter from my daughters waffles sat on the counter after we left for school and now there is an oil stain on the counter. I'm not sure this is the stuff you want to use on counter tops. I will probably have to sand it off and put another layer of concrete then seal with something stronger. I personally don't eat off my counters and would prepare food on plates or a cutting board so the food safe aspect isn't as important to me as actually sealing from stains. I still recommend it for other projects that won't be used as counters. First review: I bought this for my fireplace update. I covered the tiled fireplace with Henry's feather weight concrete (same as the Ardex just the generic version, even made by same people) then when I was finished I wanted a lower gloss sealer just to keep the ash from staining the fireplace and give it a more finished look. The gloss gets higher the more coats you put on and a little darker but not very much at all. I shook it, poured it on a paper plate then used one of those giant yellow sponges for grout removal and other things to spread it evenly over the concrete. I'm very pleased with the look of the fireplace. I still need to put a mantle of some kind on it but it's very modern looking and the Tuff Duck really tied it all together with just a bit of polish and shine. It's not going to be a highly used surface so I can't speak about the toughness or longevity but as far as ease of use and looks I give it 5 stars and would use again. If I were to do again I would probably use a foam roller instead of a sponge but I think the result was the same.

Stop looking around and order the Tuff Duck!
I used the standard application method (not the dark look), but with 4 coats at one coat per hour, and am very happy with the look. It is nice and glossy and may have darkened it just a shade, but almost imperceptibly. I was really pleased with the low odor and felt fine about having my family around while applying. ONE THING TO NOTE: I panicked at first because, although the solution appears white in the bottle, it looked very blue (sky blue) upon application- the same color as my microfiber pad. To my relief, it did not dry that way; however it was a cause for concern at first. A couple tips: have a second person handy with some towels to clean up any spills and apply liberally/work it fast on that first coat! Repeat coats take less product. I am no expert, but Tuff Duck made it easy, it worked great, and I would highly recommend it! (Two pictures are before application and two were taken after.)

Easy to apply and goes a long way
This sealer does a great job. Easy to apply and dried in a reasonable amount of time. Not sure yet about how long it will last as of yet.

Worked great, better than expected
On my semi polished surface (2000 grit) it worked more as a protective layer and didn’t really penetrate, which is what I was hoping for. Some said it penetrates, I guess if you haven’t polished the surface so much. Waxed after and it’s quite the finish now. Very happy. Did like 6 coats and barely used 1/6 of the bottle on approx. 24sq ft.

The real deal
I used this sealant for my diy concrete counters - it’s amazing!!! I did about 10 coats and so far it’s doing a great job repelling water and oil. There are tiny oil drops that permeated the counters but that was my fault for not cleaning the counters after making sausages! Just make sure to do a quick clean following cooking or dishes and you’ll be fine!

Doesn’t smell bad, higher sheen than expected, scratches easy
Bought this for the low VOCs and food friendliness but definitely leaves scratches on my table easy

Does not work
Used this on a concrete countertop. Applied exactly as per the directions, 2 coats an hour apart with the second coat in the opposite direction. Gave it a week to cure and the first time we used it, it got stained and won’t wash out. Ruined my countertops I am very unhappy
