The notch on top of the K&N filter fits up inside of the air filter cover. It appears to be a bit smaller in the circumference. The OEM filter fits snugly down into the bike. The K& N wobbles just a little when you install it, but when you put the air filter cover on it it fits just fine. I used a 30torx bit on a long handle..
