I've been wanting this for a while. Back when the first release was out, it was more expensive and I was holding out for a lower price. I regretted that decision when it was discontinued, so I resolved to get it as soon as it was available. The movies themselves are really good. Lots of old fashioned gothic horror with old castles, spider webs and atmosphere. And of course, the great Vincent Price himself. He does such a great performance in everything he does, so it's hard to pick out a favorite. Pit and the Pendulum is first where Price plays a dual role of haunted man and sadistic torturer. The Abominable Dr Phibes is probably the one I've seen the most where he's a disfigured musician who takes revenge for his wife's death by murdering her doctors in the most gruesomely inventive ways. And that's just the first disc! Next is The Haunted Palace where again, Price plays a dual role of innocent man and his evil warlock ancestor. Fall of the House of Usher is probably the most melodramatic where Price is the tormented Roderick Usher. Masque of the Red Death is one of the most interesting. Here, Price is a sadistic prince who tries to avoid a plague and gets his just desserts in the end. Probably the most colorful film in the collection. Pure Spectacle. Last is Witchfinder General. Again, Price is the sadistic villain of the title. I haven't watched this yet, but it's sure to be good. The Blu-ray presentations are good. They could have done a little better with cleaning up the specks and scratches, however. There is also a very noticeable tear and some missing frames near the end of the Theatrical version of Masque of the Red Death, but it's possible that it was the best print the studio had to work with. Oddly, this defect is not present in the Extended version. There is a booklet included with the package, but it's for the original release as there are credits for the Vincent Price opening monologues that are no longer with the package. Overall, however, it's very worth the "Price" for "Price". Hopefully this will sell well enough that Shout! Factory will bring back Volume 2. Review: Vincent Price says it all. - Know it will be good. Many great movies for Christmas.

Vincent Price Classics
This blu-ray collection is a fantastic bargain. A similar set was going for around $200 a few years ago. It includes some of Vincent Price's most famous movies. He was a master of the horror genre.

A lot of movies for the money
This has some of Price’s best movies from when he was doing the Roger Corman Poe adaptations, although the Haunted Palace is actually Lovecraft. These movies look great and Price never fails to entertain. Wonderful atmospheric old school horror.

The Vincent Price Collection Volume I Blu-ray Reissue!
Scream Factory has finally been able to reissue The Vincent Price Blu-ray Collection Volume I, a 4-disc, six film set that had been released back in 2013, but pulled because of rights issues stemming from some Iowa PBS intros that Price did many years earlier. Now it is finally back, minus those intros, but everything else seems to be there, plus it now includes new audio commentaries with genre authors Steve Haberman and Constantine Nasr, as well as an alternate, extended cut of "The Masque Of The Red Death" with about 90 seconds of deleted footage restored. Not a big deal really, but still nice to have it back. The films are: Disc 1: "Pit and The Pendulum" (1961) & "The Abominable Dr. Phibes" (1971) Disc 2: "The Haunted Palace" (1963) & "The Fall Of The House Of Usher" (1960) Disc 3: "The Masque Of The Red Death" (1964) Both 88 and 90 minute cuts. Disc 4: "Witchfinder General/Conqueror Worm" (1968) Further thoughts: The films all look excellent in HD, and are definite upgrades from the old DVDs, which had been released by MGM under the "Midnite Movies" label both as singles and double-sided double features. I was one of those that missed out on this set originally, and so am happy to have this available again in a most affordable package. My only complaint is the film choices themselves, as quite frankly, either the sequel "Dr. Phibes Rises Again"(1972) should have been included instead of "Witchfinder General", or "The Abominable Dr. Phibes" should have been saved for Volume II, and perhaps both "Tomb Of Ligea" (1965) and "The Raven" (1963) been selected instead, that way making this set a true Edgar Allen Poe collection! Why this wasn't done I have no idea... Regardless, this now makes the hoped for reissue of Volume II even more important, and lets hope this can happen sooner rather than later! Originally Volume II was released a year after Volume I...
