The blade and shank are one continuous piece of steel as opposed to cheaper trowels that have a blade spot welded to a shank. Being made of one piece makes the trowel infinitely more durable and useable. The slight angle towards the ha dle of the blade really makes the job easier to accomplish. The blade is true to size at 8mm so it fits perfectly in-between the bricks in my wall which were originally laid in 1856. The handle is a basic wood cylinder which is ever so slightly less ergonomic than a molded plastic one, but I will take a handle made out of renewable wood over one made.out of plastic any day.
