The choice for old Macs
Works perfect on my old Macbook Pro 15'' Late 2013 with macOS Big Sur 11.4. At the price of $290, this is definitely no brainer choice for old Macs, especially if you don't want to throw crazy money for a 2-port 10GbE adapter. Also this SANLink2 unit is way better in performance (true 10Gbps), comparing to Sonnet's SOLO10G-TB2 (only capable of around 5Gbps), not to mentioned that SOLO10G-TB2 asks for $250 - I mean what the hell? The downside though is that there is no support for multi-gig (but who cares if you got 10G backbone?) and you have to install driver manully, as it is based on Intel X540-AT2 controller. The driver might become an issue later as newer macOS updates will deprecate the old KEXT based drivers. But let's see what Promise will do for it.

A more affordable alternative to ATTO Thunderlink.
I performed some extensive testing using two of these Sanlink2 devices with high speed NAS systems on a current iMac model. With minor network tuning I was able to achieve speeds upwards of 850-900 MB/s on each with standard 1500 MTU settings. Peaks would sometimes reach 1000MB/s. I am sure I could have gotten faster performance if I used jumbo frames, but that would not be practical for our environment. I would not hesitate to use these in production.

Perfection!
Works like a charm! We are editing video off of a central server using this device.

Customer service direct is horrible
Their is no reason with the proper network structure these shouldn't work right out of the box. I've got 5 of them and they will do nothing. Their tech support now wants a full network topology rather than fix their damn driver issues. They basically worked but the client upgraded their Apple OS and now they've got nothing. Kudo's to crappy Apple again for the successful shutdown of editors abilities to work.
