True, but it needs a firm grip in order to keep the brush from flying off. I use a block of wood to open the jaws, making the insertion of the handle a little easier. Insert the block between the jaws and turn 45°. The block is about 1 1/8" x 7/8". You could use a larger block (1 1/4"), but it gets harder to turn. It works with standard size handles, but may be difficult to use with "fat" handles. There is a plastic piece on the puller end that holds the puller in place when not in use. Or if one that size is available?** A: Most 4in roller cover use a smaller roller frame and if what you have uses the smaller frame then no it won't work. There are some small roller covers that fits larger frames; these it would work for. **Q: How well does this do with wooster rollers and brushes?** A: rollers / brushes .. all pretty much the same design.. will work **Q: How does it work?** A: Works well. Sometimes the brush requires cleaning if paint dries prior to use when completing projects. But for the purposes of the tool's job of getting the wet paint off or does it's job well. **Q: which size?1-1/2 or 1-3/4?** A: Hello Jeff, The 1 1/2 and 1 3/4 refers to the ID of the roller cover cores. Most of the Purdy covers are 1 1/2. I use the White Doves which Purdy markets as an 1 1/2 core and they fit pretty snuggly on this spinner. Purdy makes the Pro-Extra White Dove which has an 1 3/4 core hence the need for their spinner to take both sizes. I suspect it will fit a little less snuggly. From my experience most if not all of the covers sold in big box stores, hardware stores and name brand paint stores are the 1 1/2. Purdy even makes their 18" covers in 1 1/2 core size. This spinner is a great tool. Has saved a bunch of brushes for me. BTW, I am not a pro but I paint a couple of days a week with a volunteer group. I also paid full price for my spinner so this answer as well as a review I wrote earlier are on my dime.
