Do it yourself sewing machine repair! Sound like a far fetched idea? Not so, according to Reuben O. Doyle, a sewing machine repairman of 25 years and author of "Sewing Machine Repair For The Home Sewer". "In over 75% of the repair jobs I get, the home sewer/crafter could easily have handled the job if only they'd known what to look for. In about 25% of the repair jobs I go out on, the problem is such a minor one that anyone with a checklist of what to look for could fix it in seconds, but I have to charge them the same service fee as on any repair job. Of course any broken sewing machine parts need to be taken to an authorized service repairman for repair or replacement, but those types of service calls are by far the minority!" "Sewing Machine Repair for the Home Sewer" is a book that is long overdue for anyone who owns a sewing machine. Written in step by step instructional style, it takes the machine owner through problem/solution scenarios allowing them to fix problems that can cause a lot of frustration for those who sew. Whether you have an older model machine, or one of the new computer models, this book will help keep your general repair costs to a minimum. The home sewer can now just look up the problem in this handy guide book and follow the instructions on how to fix it. YES, it's now as easy to fix your sewing machine as picking up a book! EVERY SEAMSTRESS NEEDS THIS BOOK
I recommend this book for anyone who sews. I got tired of paying $80 - $100 every time I needed my machine serviced so this has helped me to do a lot of things that are pretty basic. It explains what to check and what to try before taking it in for repairs. Sewing Machine Repair for the Home Sewer

Good Book
A good book for someone like me who knows nothing about how a sewing machine works. I believe it will help me with the first step in learning how to repair older sewing machines.

Brilliant sewing machine repair book
Should've done review earlier, sorry ๐ This book is fantastic. 2018 had problems with old Jones sewing machine as noisy and not sewing well. Went to sewing machine shop, repair man wanted ยฃ200 without even knowing what was wrong, said minimum fee. Bought this book, used it to do full service, solved the problem, now do at least annually. Thank you Mr Doyle!

I was impressed with this
I have purchased other books on how to adjust the tension, repairing, servicing your own M'c. But this book has very down to earth advice in it with a different spin on it. One of my sewing M'c fairly new too... was not stitching correctly the other books gave the same advise on upper tension but that wasn't the problem....this book gave another test to check the tension which I had not thought of doing. I also had inherited an old hand Singer M'court that was nothing stitching and with the help of this book I've got it stitching....really helpful book, very handy.

was disappointed at first because it really is quite a slim book for the money and the quality is not great BUT it is very very good at what you buy it for. It tells you a lot about how to set up and adjust, and make minor repairs, to sewing machines. I'd certainly re-buy it if I lost it.
