Cuts more Accurately, Faster. *by J***E on November 1, 2019* Bought this for my mom. She's made over 1,800 mini-quilts for premie babies at 3 local hospitals. She uses 30 squares - 5" each.I knew Alto's made a wonderful matte cutting kit for picture framing. I have framed professionally, and their easy, measuring and cutting system produced mattes indistinguishable from shop-made. This gave me the confidence to spend the $200 for my mom, even though she wasn't enthused.Their QuiltCut 2 system did not disappoint. I cut hundreds of squares in perfect stacks in much less time. Mom said they were more precise than ruler cut squares, which means a flatter, more accurate quilt.It takes a little time to figure out placement of rulers and fabric. An instructional DVD and booklet are included. I watched their demo online, but the booklet is what helped me step by step. I cut a yard or 2 at a time. The most difficult to cut is the final row, when the smaller piece of fabric is harder to keep in place.Keep your rotary blade sharp. Dull ones leave bottom layer connected by a few threads, which wastes time recutting. The cutter can be easily adjusted to cut a variety of angles by exact degrees. 90 for squares, 30, 45, 60, and more for triangles and diamonds. I haven't tried these, but looked easy to do.I bought a slightly discounted Amazon Warehouse one w damaged box. Kit was perfect inside. I recommend buying a backup cutting mat. It will eventually wear, and is custom sized and made for board, and reasonably priced. While Alto's, after 30 yrs, is still in business selling matte cutting kit, they sold the QuiltCut 2 to another manufacturer. I wouldn't want to have to customize a replacement mat years down the road.The QuiltCut 2 is worth the investment. It will replace many rulers made for cutting only one type of pattern. I would recommend buying it before you're 87. My mom's broken both wrists, and is now unable to rotary cut. But I knew this would last, and eventually, I'd also have the pleasure of using the QuiltCut 2. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Work Very Well *by T***E on February 18, 2024* A little pricy but a good value. I love the long cutting ruler that you can move in different directions to cut fabric.
