Weston Single Burger Press For 4 1/2" Diameter Patties, 1/4 lbs to 3/4 lbs

Had a cheap plastic one and after using it for about a year, decided to search for and bought a different hamburger press. The instructions for the Weston Burger Express were brisk and as you can imagine, there were brief instructions and just advised,:" .....make a ball of the ground meat, place in center of press and press plunger." Well,...there is a bit more to it than that. The first patty I made was thin on one side, thick on the other, and overall was a bit smooshed. So, back to the drawing board. The second time I used the square waxed paper you can buy with this unit. I did the ball trick with the meat and adjusted the depth by sight rather than just guesswork. Noted: you do have to adjust the thickness of the burger you are making by using a thumb screw located under the plunger. Once I figured out the depth I wanted, the rest was easy. Once the meat was placed on the waxed paper, I used another piece to cover the top of the meat. I then pressed GENTLY down on the plunger and pushed downward until I began to see a bit of the meat squeezing thru the sides of the waxed paper. The third try was a charm as was the fourth, fifth, etc. You get the picture. The pre-cut waxed paper squares help tremendously in keeping the meat from sticking to the unit and allowed for quick removal and stacking the burgers in a freezer container. The unit itself is relatively sturdy, and with reasonable care should last a very long time. It is metal, easily cleaned and I air dried my unit rather than putting it in the dishwasher. Overall, I now can make hamburger patties that will cook evenly, will freeze easily and I won't end up with those hand made angry little pellets I used to make. No, this is NOT a must have item but it certainly is very nice to have. Yes, this is a definite RECOMMENDED BUY.

The product itself is OK. A little difficult to take apart and clean. Also, I think we ended up getting a used one. But that’s OK.

I like this pattie press a lot. Gently form a loose ball of hamburger and press it into a perfect pattie. I pressed out 3 patties from package to press to refrigerator in 3 minutes. Some complain about the extra time it takes to clean it. I use wax paper, a baggie, or plastic wrap as a medium between the press and the meat. No cleaning necessary as the raw meat never touches the press. Some complain that they want a larger diameter pattie. Simply adjust the press to form a thicker pattie, and then gently hand press it out to the diameter you desire. The stock diameter size is fine at 4.5 inch, but if you got bigger buns, just gently hand press it out to suit your bun needs. Easy peasy. The nice thing is that it does not overwork your meat which is often the case when making patties by hand. This ensures a juicy burger!

This little bad boy does not disappoint. For anyone who's into burger culture or meal preps their own sausage patties, this is a huge upgrade that is worth every cent if you're moving from one of the plastic burger presses. It's easy to clean and stamps out burgers super quick, and the heavy plunger and metal press plate helps to ensure an even burger distribution--an absolute must for burgerphiles🔥 *Side Note* In my sole opinion, it really shines in the 4-6oz portion size. If you like going bigger on patty size above that weight, you may find that the meat starts to extrude out of the sides as you press down and doesnt retain that perfect puck shape on both sides--in that case, I'd make sure your ground meat is as cold as possible before pressing to retain shape integrity. Last year I did not buy this product because of some of the negative reviews, but I was tired of pushing down on a cheap metal one. I liked the metal one with a handle but I found that I had to press rather hard to get the desired consistency. The first time I used this, I was kicking myself for not buying it earlier. It was much easier to form the patty and was consistent. The adjustment is really very easy and even easier to take apart and clean. Sometimes I do not understand some of the negative reviews except it seems like they want the product to work miracles. This is the easiest thing to take apart and clean and even easier to adjust. As to meat going inside the chamber during pressing, that is bound to happen if you do not use wax paper. And even with wax paper I did get some meat in the cracks due in part to my learning how to use the thing. However, is that really a big deal? I would clean my other press after making patties even if I did not see any residue as a safety issue. And this device is very simple to take apart and clean. I have just used this once to press about 50 sausage patties so my review may be premature, however, it did great and I had very nice patties. Now if the device does not last or breaks apart like a few others have had happen, than I will change my review. However, right now I am giving it two thumbs up.

This press is well-built and sturdy and does exactly what it says it does and, sadly, makes a very simple process overly complicated. Used this once, then realized that by the time I'd taken it apart to clean it, I'd spent about three times as long preparing patties than if I'd just made them by hand. Hear me out. . . I thought somehow that this patty maker would simplify or improve the patty-making process or, I don't know, make it more fun or something. It doesn't. It just makes it take longer. It's kinda like having a 1,000 lb gadget to pour tap water from the kitchen faucet into a glass. So, the way it works is you get your hamburger meat ready to press, then you have to get the wax paper down so the meat doesn't stick to the press, then you place the meat in the press and push down on it with your greasy hand, then you open the press and press the plunger to get the patty to release. Then, when you're done, you have to take the thing apart to clean all the grease off it and the bits of raw meat that get caught inside the press, then you have to put it back together. . . . So many steps when all you'd have to do after getting the meat ready to press is simply flatten it out by hand in about three seconds like you've done all your life. The burgers from the press don't cook up any better, and most of the time the patties aren't perfectly shaped anyway because one patty had a little more meat than the other when pressed. So anyway, I bought two of these to give one away as a gift, but after using mine once, I'm not gifting the other to my family member as it's simply an impractical gadget. Very nice, very well-made, and completely unnecessary and impractical. And it's not returnable. : ( Just press your patties by hand like usual and save yourself time and money. Or, if you absolutely have to have some kind of gadget to press the meat, just get one of those hand-held thingamajiggers. Really, though, take it it from me: pressing patties by hand is the simplest and fastest, way simpler and way faster that using this.

This press is well made and works very well. You can make a lot of burgers in a short time with very little effort. The adjustable thickness is a great feature. I used to use a manual two piece press that you had to put a lot of pressure on and twist as you pressed, it has now been recycled. This is extremely easy to use. You definitely need waxed paper on each side to prevent them from sticking and making a mess of the press. The patties do come out slightly thicker on one side but it is not anything to worry about. I would definitely recommend this press, even if you are only doing a few burgers at a time!! Great purchase.
