Masterbuilt MB20073420 30-inch Outdoor Digital Electric Smoker with Bluetooth & Broiler in Black

I am extremely happy with my masterbuilt electric smoker. But I had done my research before purchasing this item as there are some drawbacks to an electric smoker. This type of smoker will not be for everyone but for my circumstances it is perfect albeit with a couple of extra purchases that I had already decided on before buying. As I already have a webber bbq I did not see the need to purchase a wood / charcoal fired smoker and as I do not have the time to spend tending the smoker at all times I decided this was my best option. With the addition of a after market pellet tray and temp probes I can set it away in the morning and go to work in the knowledge that baring a power cut it I will not need to look at it until I get back in the evening. That being said the smoke flavour is not quite as good from it as a wood fired smoker but as I said I new about this prior to purchase and the difference is only slight in my opinion. I use it 2 or 3 times a week and have made brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken and jerky as well as many other dishes. If I had purchased a wood/ charcoal fired smoker i would not have used it even a quarter of the amount. Overall I could not be happier but as I say do your research as this may not be for u and cannot replace a barbecue you will need a bbq as well as if you want to do your standard bbq food

Injave used this 5 times, it smokes great but you may as well not bother with the Bluetooth function. It connects and then after 10 mins disconnects. Once it disconnects it cannot connect again without turning everything off and on and then connecting again, which is a complete no no if smoking. You will just have to use the temperature gauge on the smoker and wait until you reach the desired temperature. It would have been nice if the Bluetooth worked as you could have an alarm inside the house. I had a phone connected with the app sitting plugged in in the window and it wouldnconnect but alway cutoff after about 10 mins so it wasn't that I was moving in and out of range, it is as if the connection timed out. If doing this again I would get a cheaper one without the Bluetooth or else a more expensive one with a better Bluetooth setup. Very disappointed. Update, Used it again Sat 13th April 24, bluetooth works for 5-10 mins and then disconnects, it will only reconnect if you turn off and on the whole smokers power. I tried leaving the phone on the smoker this time too but it always times out after 5 or 10 mins and is disconnected. Very disappointed

There is so much to like. I know the aficionados will wax on about real fire etc. However the electric smoker will 100% never run out of fuel during the cooking process. Clever way to add the wood chips means no drop in temperature. Very easy to clean. The only downside is the screen uses blue light which can be difficult to see, red would have been better.The app is patchy. I found Morrisons the best for ribs and specialist steaks like skirt. Finally home made rubs are messy to make and to be honest the ready made ones like Cape Herb Spice proofed be as tasty. This is the best thing I have bought this year especially for the money

I purchased this Bluetooth digital smoker on 17 June, received on 18th June, unpacked and assembled per instructions. First I could not figure out which app I needed to use as no specifications given and several apps available. Secondly, once downloaded two different apps, this model was nowhere to be found. I contacted customer service via the app only to be informed this model is no longer manufactured but to use the grey Masterbuilt app and plug in the model so that it could be used for Bluetooth functionality. Managed to set it up. I struggled with using the LED control panel on the smoker as you cannot see it in bright light. A definite drawback- you absolutely need the App to see temperature etc.! Thirdly, the instructions were not clear how to toggle between temp, countdown time or meat probe temps. I had to contact customer support once again to get this information, but still awaiting a response. I played around and somehow got the display to toggle between the three functions. Smoking quality: I am used to using a coal and wood chunk smoker and wanted to try electric smoker as the next level, however, I found the smoke imparted flavour somewhat muted, and will probably revert to using manual smoking for certain foods. The smoking shelves are a bit small and close together, so one would not be able to load as full as one would a manual coal/wood smoker. I will use it again this weekend and decide if it was worth the money spent. Just unhappy that this is ex-stock and no longer manufactured. Wish I knew that before purchasing.

Good smoker but don't buy cover, water going through, so it's not good for raining!

Worked fine for about 10 cooks, and then power went. Will not turn on at all, done all normal troubleshooting but no luck. Masterbuilt utterly useless for support minus offering to sell spare parts (ranging from £25-125) for a unit worth about ~ £200 now. Complete waste of money, will never touch this brand again. Please don't make the same mistake I make.

Easy to use. Very nice smoker. Heat's up fast enough.

To smoke in temp 55°C to 65°C its very difficult because temperature below the wood chips it's to low to deliver enough smoke

Von der Leistung ist das Gerät wirklich topp. Wir haben verschiedene Fleischsorten mit dem Smoker ausprobiert und alles ist super geworden. Hervorragend ist die Broilfunktion, was dem Fleisch zum Schluss nochmal eine schöne Kruste verleiht. Auch einfaches Grillen ist möglich. Ein riesengroßer Minuspunkt ist allerdings, dass die Bluetoothverbindung ständig hinkt und das Gerät sich nicht einfach so gemäß Herstellerangaben verbinden lässt. Mittlerweile haben wir zwar einen Trick, wie es funktionieren kann, aber für das Geld erwartet man einfach mehr und kein rumgefummel! Bei entsprechender Anfrage des Herstellers über einen Austausch des Moduls, war man erst sehr kooperativ. Es sollte uns ein neues Modul zugestellt werden. Das war allerdings vor 3 Monaten. Nach mehreren erneuten Anfragen, wo denn das neue Modul bliebe, sagte man uns, dass es aus Großbritannien komme, in einen Container mit verladen worden sei und nun müsse man warten, bis dieser voll ist. Dies wird voraussichtlich bis zum Ende des Jahres sein. Für den Vorschlag die Versandkosten selber zu tragen, war man nicht offen. Hier will man also schlappe 20Euro sparen und lässt den Kunden dafür bis Ende des Jahres im Regen stehen. Eigentlich sehr sehr schade, da der Rest des Gerätes wirklich toll ist. Aber so verliert man den Spaß, da man sich am Ende mehr ärgert, als freut!
