If sold in California, perhaps the issue is that there would be a Prop 65 warning attached? If I'm not mistaken this regulatory label would apply to virtually anything with activated carbon (filter material). For that matter, Prop 65 warnings also appear on coffee because of the acrylamides formed during roasting (similar with french fries and searing of meat during cooking). Consequently, most restaurants in CA also have Prop 65 warnings on the door. If you buy a leather office chair, same thing (due to chemicals used in tanning and leather dying). In a nutshell, everything can give you cancer!
