Review: This thing is awesome and a must have for your hiking trip - I went on a 3 day hike and decided to take this with me. This thing is a literally lifesaver, it literally boils water just as fast as my stove and allowed us to eat good freeze dried food for 3 days straight. It's compact and fits in the bag very well, has a knob for the gas so you can stop it or lower it for safety, the fire it produces is also consistent and stable. Love this and will always have it for my camping/hiking trips going forward.
Review: Perfect stove. - Perfect size for camping in the mountains.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Would this be large enough to cook a block of ramen in?**
A: Yes

**Q: Can one cook food in this?? Could I make rice in this?? Which model is best??**
A: Jetboils are best used to boil water. You can cook in them to make things like pasta, rice and soups. Anything that you can burn can be a little hard to clean off. In the case of rice, if you can some burned rice in it then you should boil some water in the cup after your done. It'll make the rice that may easier to clean up. Any of the models will essentially perform similar to others. The Zip doesn't have the ignitor on it which is pretty helpful to get things going quickly and not have to carry a lighter. To get the ignitor you'll have to upgrade to the flash, minimo or micromo. A little more money up front but I think worth it in the end if you'll use it a lot.

**Q: How necessary is the pot support for this system? That is, how ready to use is this kit providing you already have fuel?**
A: Thanks for contacting Oregon Mountain Community. The Jetboil pot support is not all that necessary. If you do go over 2 liters of boiling water, I suggest purchasing the pot support. This system comes all ready for use right out of the package. Hope this helps.

**Q: Does this stove have a fuel regulator or is the gas pressure based on the pressure in the cannister at the time of use?**
A: Hello ,
Thank you for your inquiry on the Zip. The Zip is are no-frills option for backpackers. This model does not have regulator or self igniton. If you were interested in self ignitor the Flash and Mo series does. If you were interested in simmer control with regulator please take a look at our Mo series. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any additional questions you may have.

Perfect size for camping in the mountains.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Does it's job very efficiently and quickly
*by J***H on August 27, 2012*

If you are looking for something compact and tough to quickly boil water when camping or backpacking then this will do the trick. This model is on the lower end of the price scale as they go up with the more options available. I bought this for it's simplicity and size and it does exactly what I needed. We took a family camping trip to Yellowstone for a week. We went exploring every day and would eat breakfast at the camp.... sometimes it was instant oatmeal and we used the Jetboil to heat the water. We would not come back to camp until night so every day we took freeze dried food with us (Backpackers Pantry and Mountain House). I used this thing pretty much every day for the week and we would make 2 bags of food for the four of us so I had to boil 2 containers at each meal. With the small gas canister it finally ran out of gas the last day. - It boils water very, very quickly. - Stores up completely within itself (gas can too) - Stays cool to touch on the outside (from the neoprene sleeve) even though the contents inside are boiling. - Put together or taken apart in under a minute. True story- It comes with little plastic stabilizer legs that attach to the bottom of the fuel can for extra stability. I was using it at a picnic table and forgot to use them as the unit was balanced very well and actually left them inside the cup. I realized it when I was pouring the boiling water out and I heard it hit the lid. There was zero damage to the legs. Took them out, let them cool a couple minutes, then used them as usual. The only downside to the base model is no auto igniter so you need a lighter or matches to light it. However on a plus side that is one less component to worry about failing at the wrong time, and less weight. I see it as a non needed option so still rate it at 5 stars.
