Thaa's guid taablet.
This is the stuff, the traditional Scottish tablet. What is tablet? Well, the story goes back many centuries to the time of King Arthur. Back then most people, just as today, took their holidays in the south of France or even Spain if they could endure the customs checks (also known as the "Inquisition") However some weird folks known as druids or "wizards" chose to venture north and one such nut-job often referred to as Merlin (his mate's knew him as Wiggy) went all the way up to Scotland after falling asleep in a wagon that was transporting half-ling weed from the misty mountain in modern day Wales. When Merlin saw how appalling life was north of Lancaster he summoned the dark spirits to fuse together every type of sugar and honey and sweet forms of everything sickly into a singular, solid form. It was so firm and elemental that it reminded Merlin of the tablets Moses received (which Merlin had of course seen in person during his university year off while travelling in Persia looking for the original source of Glacier Mints... geography was a new kind of magic back then) So the legend of Scottish tablet was created and to this day it is the best legal way to alleviate the torture of living in the extreme North, anywhere from Birmingham to the Pole. This is a particularly good example, soft yet with that strange granularity, creamy and delicious while also being sickeningly sweet. Kinda of fudge-like but with that unmistakable Scottish attitude that welcomes you and puts you in your place at the same time. It may seem expensive but I challenge you to buy and consume a tub within the same year. Delicious and generously portioned, great served with fruit, desserts, ice cream or prepackaged sandwiches. Treat your children and supply with toothbrushes (not included)

Last one was delightful, this one…
Second batch of these, I’m giving 4 stars as the last one was delicious, this second batch however was a different texture and half way through the tub it has a strange smell and the tablet is tainted and quite unpleasant so will be throwing. Unfortunately.

Great taste, great price
BT's have always been a favourite but a small bag are quite expensive so thought would try bulk to get value for money. Very pleased I did. Ross's are excellent quality. Lovely texture, really big pieces, full of flavour. Excellent gift idea or to keep around when you just need that little pick-me-up. Thank you

improves over time
Ross's Scottish Tablet Jar I have been buying this brand of dairy butter tablet from my local sweet shop for the past six months and thought I'd treat myself to a whole jar - not a good idea for the waistline! The jar came sealed and arrived promptly with a good expiry date. Unfortunately I does not taste the same as what I had been buying up from my local shop up until this point. Puzzled I bought some more from my local sweet shop (he had just gotten a new jar himself) to check my taste buds. Strangely the freshly opened jar of butter tablet from the sweet shop tasted identical to that which I had purchased myself so I can only assume either the recipe has changed or there has been some other manufacturing change. I am so disappointed as I had really loved this brand of butter tablet up until now. Its not that it tastes bad, just different and this batch does not have that wonderful, crumbly texture I so enjoy.

Very, very delicious. Every bit as good as the local Tablet I got at a store in John o'Groats.

Omg this is worth every cent I paid to get it over to the states. It is utterly delicious and the best tablet you can buy IMO. It’s going to take a while to munch through this big container, but I’m not complaining! I will order more when it’s gone.

Update: 23 July 2024. I've changed my review from 2 stars to 1 star as the seller has not responded to my communication at all. I can't eat this at all, it's really 'off', even my hubby tried some and said the same thing. So it's sitting in the cupboard untouched. This is the 5th batch we've had, all previous ones have been OK. There was only 1 previous issue with one jar arriving all broken inside the box and no evidence of any secure packaging or seal around the lid. The seller was very responsive in this instance. However, the seller has not responded at all to my latest communication in alerting them something is off. And as I've already sent a communication to them, there are no options for me to contact the seller again. On this occasion, this was a complete waste of $70......and am hesitant to order any more. ************* I've grown up on this stuff, so I know my tablet! I live in the US, really hard to find good tablet, found this product prob 18 mths ago. Expensive, but worth it as it's always tasted original. So I treat myelf a few times a year and splurge on a jar. However this batch tastes very different, almost overwhelming smell/taste of honey. I'm not a fan of honey at all. Plus their is a grittiness to it, as in gravel grittiness ...... am really hoping the recipe hasn't changed, as this is batch is not up to par at all. Could be an off batch. Not to mention honey in tablet is sacrilege!
