Iberia Dry Pigeon Peas, 12 Ounce

I love pigeon peas. Tasty and I also planted a few!

We live in a small town in Middle Tennessee and none of our local stores carry Pigeon Peas, so we order online. After trying a few brands, Iberia Pigeon Peas have become our absolute favorite. We soak them overnight and then pressure cook them for about 15–20 minutes. They come out tender and full of rich nutty flavor we love. These are perfect for making Jamaican Rice and Peas (aka Gungo Peas), a dish that we make often. If you're looking for high quality Pigeon Peas in the U.S., I don't think you will be disappointed with Iberia. We’ll definitely keep reordering!

I planted a few of these peas in starter pots on my back porch. They've sprouted and are about 5-6' along on the way to producing lots of peas for the next several years. The rest, I soaked over night, cooked in my Instant Pot with onion, salt, garlic, worchestershire sauce, a lime's worth of juice. They provided three huge services of peas. Not the best pea I ever ate, but good. VERY high protein and in nutrition.

So many offer dry gandules in a can but I don’t consider them dry when it is canned with liquid 🤭. Not all want to cook gandules from a can so I thank you for offering a good quality dry gandules in a bag. These gandules do not take an eternity to cook, it’s fresh. The flavor is fantastic, that wonderful flavor which is unique to gandules, no other bean offers. I am old school and always soak overnight for an even texture, next day discard that liquid. Then with fresh water boil the gandules, do this step without adding salt until it is tender. After, save that broth and sauté with your flavors. Fantastic!!! Really good quality, I even purchased for my Mami during the Holidays, for myself and will continue to purchase as long as it is available online. Really the best Gandules offered on Amazon other brands never seem to soften. Iberia Gandules begin to soften while soaking overnight. I can’t say enough, but try them, you won’t be disappointed. My second time ordering. I prefer Goya but this price point is better. This time I ordered 3 bags. 1 of the bags opened during transit and was all throughout the box. Not a huge complaint b/c they have to get washed either way however I think providing a smaller box or packing peanuts to avoid the bags knocking all around the inside of the box while in transit may help to avoid this happening again.
