Very good
Cold Brew and Chocolate The first protein drink I’ve tried that actually tastes good. A bit sweet but still good. The cold brew is especially nice.

Clean Product. Decent Taste.
I started buying these for my mom to replace the sugary Ensure shakes she was drinking. It took her a couple weeks to adjust to the taste, but now she likes them. I liked them right away. I’m not a big meat eater, so it’s an easy way to boost my protein intake.

No chalky after taste
Thought I'd try these are a meal replacement instead of other brands that give me pains and constipation. These are great. No chalky taste or overly thick shake quality. I got the variety pack and all of the flavors are good. The cookie/cream seems a bit too sweet, maybe, for my taste. But love the dark chocolate. I drink them cold from the fridge, no mixing at all. Smooth texture, easy to carry , and I can recycle the bottles.

These taste great! I like the variety of flavors and I have reordered these several times!
These taste great and are excellent for hitting protein goals and for keeping in your bag for easy access when you have days where you are on the run nonstop. I like the variety of flavors and have reordered these several times.

Very Sweet Tasting
Not bad, But EXTREMELY sweet tasting. I use more as creamer in my coffee or add to blender with fruits&veggies, water or almond milk to dilute it.

Best
Anyone who says these don't taste good are wrong. I've been buying these for a couple years now one of the best vegan protein shake options.

Horrible chemical taste
I came to try this brand based on The Consumer Reports investigation "Protein Powders and Shakes Contain High Levels of Lead". This report was published in October 2025 and detailed the heavy metal testing results of 23 different protein powders and ready-to-drink shakes. The Owyn brand was flagged as being safe to drink on a daily basis. I am a long time user of Orgain, which I find tasty and enjoyable but Orgain fell into a use occasional category. So I have been trying different Owyn protein drinks to see if there is one I could replace my daily Orgain shake with. A note about CR article: Several experts, industry organizations, and supplement manufacturers have raised significant concerns regarding the Consumer Reports (CR) article on heavy metals in protein powders. The primary criticisms include: Overly Strict and Unrealistic Safety Thresholds: CR used its own internal "Level of Concern" benchmark of 0.5 micrograms of lead per day, which is based on California's Proposition 65 guidelines. This standard is calculated by taking the lowest level of lead exposure known to cause harm and dividing it by 1,000 to create a massive margin for error. Critics argue this creates an "unachievable" safety target that is not supported by scientific literature or recognized by federal regulators. For comparison, the EU benchmark allows for up to 270 micrograms per serving. Alarmist and Misleading Tone: Industry trade groups like the Natural Products Association (NPA) and the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) described the report as "alarmist," "unscientific," and creating a "misleading impression of risk". Experts stress that simply detecting trace, parts-per-billion amounts of heavy metals does not equate to a health hazard or a public health emergency. Lead and cadmium occur naturally in the earth's crust and soil, meaning they are inevitably absorbed by all plant-derived foods, including standard vegetables and certified organic ingredients. Flawed Product Comparisons: Naked Nutrition criticized the report for comparing products on a "per serving" basis rather than a "per gram" basis. Because weight gainers have significantly larger serving sizes (e.g., around 315 grams) compared to standard protein powders (typically 30 to 50 grams), comparing them by the serving did not provide an accurate "apples-to-apples" comparison. Missing Context on Consumer Use: The CRN pointed out that the CR report lacked important context, specifically regarding how products were selected for testing, how their proprietary thresholds were derived, and whether the testing accurately reflected typical consumer use. Levels Found Are Unlikely to Cause Harm: Medical experts, immunologists, and dietitians have noted that the lead levels published in the CR report do not exceed standard safety guidance for food items or daily intake levels. Experts state that the levels found are highly unlikely to cause lead poisoning or immediate harm to consumers. Products tried: OWYN Sea Salt Caramel Elite Plant Protein Shake - drinkable but not very good OWYN No Nut Butter Cup Pro Elite Plant Protein Shake - horrible chemical taste - undrinkable OWYN 100% Vegan Plant-Based Pro Elite High Protein Shakes - horrible chemical taste - drinkable OWYN Only What You Need Protein Shake Cookies and Creamless - horrible chemical taste, watery chocolate taste - drinkable OWYN Only What You Need Protein Shake Dark Chocolate - subtle chemical taste, more watery than I would expect from dark chocolate, after taste not present in other favors - drinkable
