Pieces come with dielectric compound in the wire insert area.
These are typical wire connectors, so they work as well as any other. I was surprised to find the dielectric compound. But, after thinking about it, I conclude that was a good idea to help maintain a long term electrical connection at the "spliced" area. It was a little messy, though, so be sure to have a few paper towels handy at the work site.

VERY handy.
Makes wiring easy. You will need a pair of pliers and a flat nosed screw driver to help seat the wire. You will learn how to pull the metal connector out and seat the correct way. Works great. Thank you.

Better Than Most (I Hope)
I've tried several types of connectors and, due to the gel and the tight seal, these appear to be ones that will survive the elements. They were not easy to attach at first but once you get the hang of it, the process gets easier. I used them on 16 gauge wire and getting the main running wire into the slot is not easy. I found that using pliers to pinch it in works the best. When you go to pinch the main "door" shut, make sure you're holding the lamp wire all the way into the slot, and pinch very hard with the pliers. On some connections I had to go back and squeeze really hard to fully bite through the insulation.Of the five I used, one does seem to be temperamental, losing the connection sometimes when the main wire wire is disturbed. However, I had to replace one connector in that location and it may be that the removal damaged the wire. If so, I'll put another one on in another part of the main wire and think that will fix the issue.

As expected....
Work the same as those I normally purchase from the electrical suppliers......because they ARE the same as I purchase from electrical suppliers.

I'll never splice outdoor lighting cable again
I used these connectors to install low voltage lighting in my front yard.Peace of mind knowing that a positive connection has been made and not using wire nuts and the uncertainty of keeping a weatherproof connection. I read reviews that 14G wire is too thick. The trick is to use a bit of the lube in the connector to "prime" the wire. It will clip in nice and secure. You just need to push it in. I used needle nose pliers to help distribute the force along the wire where it mates to the connector. Do a few of them and you'll get fast.

Works well with the right technique.
It's a great connector when you have the right tools. It's a real stretch using 16G wire. Don't try 14G, it will be a headache and probably not work. If you have a long run and need 14G I would recommend another form of connection. A thin shafted screwdriver will make life easier when you're trying to attach the main run to the connector. Once you get the process down it's a great connector and holds and seals well. The goop displaced (displacement connector) really isn't a big deal. We'll see how well they hold up in the Florida weather.

Messy, and pretty finicky with insulation thickness
Bought these to update LED lighting and avoid the cheap, crappy plastic needle-y connectors that always decay and break. They seem to works very well - if you can get the wire into them I had to search for 16g landscape lighting wire that would actually fit into the holes, and it was not easy. Even the one I found I still have to shave a bit off to get it to go in - and use needlenose pliers to coerce the splice line into the groove. The connectors are filled with some waterproofing goo that gets all over your hands and tools, but I cant knock the connector for that as it is just the way it is. Anyway I am hoping these last. Note to 3M - why don't you make a version of these specifically for 14/16g landscape lighting wire that can accommodate the (much) thicker insulation? Make them dark brown or black to blend with groundcover, and you'd make a killing for the low voltage lighting industry!

Perfect for easy wiring!
Got these to wire in some new headlights with a halo, they made this project so much easier and faster! No need to strip and tape, just insert and snap shut. They keep your connection watertight and are low profile.
