MY ACCIDENT - WATER DAMAGE One day, I left my ember cup on my nightstand with unfinished coffee in it. Somehow, I accidentally knocked it over and liquid accumulated in my charging coaster. The mug stopped working and I assumed that I had broken the entire unit due to my negligence. MISSING CHARGING PIN Well, I closely examined the charging coaster and noticed that one of the charging pins was missing. I suppose I wiped it away when I cleaned up the mess. So… I thought it was worth a shot to order another charging coaster to see if that fixed the problem. IT DID FIX THE PROBLEM!!! My ember mug is once again fully functional. PROBLEM FIXED! The moral of this story is: If your mug stops working, closely examine your charging coaster to see if it has sustained damage to the charging pins. A new charging coaster might be the solution to your problem!

Yes, I would buy again. This is a great alternative than buying a new set. It works with my Ember mug and I'm happily drinking my coffee again.

I purchased an Ember mug/charger directly from Ember a couple of years ago for my wife. The mug works great and she loves it. At some point one of the pins on the charging coaster became depressed into the coaster. I was unable to fix it so I just got on Amazon and bought a new one. Now, within the warranty period, the same thing happened. The inner charging pin has depressed into the charging coaster and it does not work. So this time I got on Ember's web site and looked at support. Ember acknowledges the problem right on their support page. But they are no help. There is no phone number so I emailed them through their web site. I got an automated email in response asking me more questions. I answered them, sent them proof of purchase and hoped for the best. No response. A week later I emailed them again and asked them to get back to me. No response. I responded to an add on Facebook hoping they would see it and want to solve a customer issue. No response. So now I have a product under warranty that does not work and a company that does not care. I'm hoping this review might generate a response, but I am not holding out hope. If I hear from them I will update my comments. If I don't, I will do the same. But for right now, I would not recommend their product because of the company that DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. UPDATE: Heard back from them the same day I posted this. They wanted pictures of the coaster pins and the serial number on the bottom (which is unreadable). Sent that to them along with what I think of their customer service. Like I'm going to go through this crap for $30? But the mug, when it can charge is awesome. But it's expensive. That's why I am doing this. It's useless without the charger. I will update again when I hear from them next.

Bought it to replace original that we had accidentally damaged. It works great. I would recommend using Ember brand charging coasters if needing to replace original.

I bought this Ember charger as a replacement for my original charger. The replacement works well (for now) but I was not pleased that I needed to replace it at all, especially considering why it needed to be replaced and the high cost. My original charger failed when one of the little metal pins fell down and could no longer make contact with the mug. (I actually got it charging again temporarily with a little piece of aluminum foil— see the pic). I read online that the charging pin falls after liquid gets onto the charger. I find it pretty disappointing that a charger that also functions *as a coaster* can’t handle a trace amount of liquid. While I’ve been careful to not let moisture get on the new charger, I resent that I have to baby it, and I’m just waiting for it to fail in the same way. Considering how expensive Ember products are, I expected better durability.

I make sure to keep the charging contacts on the bottom of my Ember products clean to maintain optimal connection. While I tend to drink my coffee within a reasonable timeframe, the product claims it can keep the cup charged indefinitely even while actively heating a beverage, which is a great feature for longer sessions. This coaster is the exact same product that originally came with my Ember, so it's a perfect match. Like all Ember products, it's on the pricier side for what it is, but for the convenience and functionality it offers, it's worth it if you need an extra or replacement charger.

It appears that the Ember base has a life of just over one year with careful use. I have had to replace my base twice each after 15 months of use. There is obviously a design weakness in the spring-loaded contacts that I wish Ember would rectify. The product is brilliant but needing to replace the base every year is not. Also, why can't Ember just sell the base as I now have two redundant charging adapters that I will have to dispose of. Not an environmentally good thing!

The charging coaster can become damaged (the little charging wires that make contact with the mug can break or get pushed down), so a replacement is occasionally needed. The company will also sometime replace the charger for free but it is nice to have an extra charging plate for different places in the house or office. Works well. Nice to have a variety of colours now.

This item was supplied directly from the US. It is therefore designed operate at 110 volts not 230 volts, and was supplied with an unearthed US flat 2 pin plug (see photo). This is PROHIBITED by UK Statutory Instrument No 1768 of 1994..

Arrived with a US plug not a UK one. Product worked but Poor service not to make it clear that it was not fitted with correct plug.
