When Noah Wesley heard the faint sound outside the door of his remote Alaskan mountain cabin during a violent nighttime blizzard, it was no less than the voice of God that urged him to take a closer look, soon to discover his snow angel. Unconscious and more than half frozen to death, her name, as Noah would later learn after boldly saving her life, was Elizabeth, a beautiful young woman, fragile yet fierce, and intent on discovering gold like so many others in that region during the late 1800s. But why Elizabeth was so drawn to the gold, and why she would chase it even through a pounding storm that no man would dare face, was a secret to be shared with no one else, not even at the inviation of Noah's deep blue trusting eyes. First time novelist Jamie Carie pens a can't-put-down debut in Snow Angel, a masterfully romantic story wherein cold and lonely hearts risk everything to be forever warmed. Endorsements "Carie is a welcome new voice in the inspirational fiction market."--Romantic Times "A truly engaging story . . . fascinating." --DancingWord.net "The romantic tension is both powerful and convincing."--TCM Reviews AWARDS Snow Angel was nominated for a 2007 RITA Award in the First Books category Snow Angel winner of USA Book News Best Books of 2007 in the Religious: Fiction and Literary Category Snow Angel wins ForeWord Magazine’s Book of the Year for best Romance of 2007 Review: Fantastic First Novel - I accidentally ran into this one here at desertcart and read the blurb. Based on that, the cover and the fact this was from B&H's newer fiction line, I had to bite. I'm glad I did. Jamie took some risks with this story. At times, it reads more like a secular romance novel. To some, she may have crossed a few lines in regards to passion and one specific scene of violence. Yet, the story is so compelling you are involved before you can resist. I liked the setting of this story, which she realistically painted with her words. Her characters were well-drawn and her plot pacing kept me turning pages. I highly recommend this award winner, though it's not for everyone. If you enjoy edgy Christian fiction, this one's for you. Jamie is a fresh voice in Christian fiction whose original prose will delight readers. Review: Lovely, informative story well done--I'll read it again! - Truly, I've never read a bad--or even a mediocre--book by Jamie Carie. Purchased as a Christmas read, it had nothing to do with Christmas. However, was a very good book. The gold rush in Alaska has never been part of my historical interest, but I discovered some very interesting things about that era. Prospecting for gold in Alaska was an absolutely perilous, ultra-rigorous venture, and the author chronicles it well. The story line of a mistreated orphan who grows up in an atmosphere of "gold fever," and a godly Alaskan young man who discovers this "snow angel" half frozen on the porch of his cabin is one worthy of your time. What a great, entertaining way to learn history! Jamie Carie's research is fantastic, and she is a gifted storyteller and author.

Historical, clean, adult Christian fiction
I enjoyed this book. There was history about the gold rush in Alaska that was interesting. There was a Christian element to this book but very little preaching and more about how the character listened to God and some prayers. The characters didn't pull me in like I like, but I found the story enjoyable and it moved very well. It was not predictable and had me wondering where it was going to go. There is a rape scene in this book and I thought it was handled well and not too descriptive and over all there were just some things that made this an adult read.

Amazing story
About a young girl who was adopted at a young age by a couple who used her to pan for gold. The story takes her to Alaska where she almost freezes to death in the snow. The story is very well written with mystery, action, romance and God directing the lives of the characters. Super great book to read.

Beautiful beginning that lost its way
I wish I could give half stars. I would like to give this 3 1/2. I loved the beginning of this book. The writing was good, the descriptions were lush and the storyline grabbed me. I thought there was fantastic chemistry between the two main characters... and they both were drawn so beautifully in my mind. The author did a wonderful job of setting the scene. I could picture them and their environment. The secondary characters were not as well developed. The two main characters also did a bit of a personality quirk in the middle of the book-acting in ways that seemed somewhat contrary to normal. That made it seem slightly rushed as if the author needed them to do/accept certain things and move on to the next part of the story. It took the novel from a touching, sad story to one that was hard make the all the leaps with. The ending was satisfying and has good symmetry - very poetic. I enjoyed it.

Kept Me Reading
A few times I wanted the story to get a littler faster but then you realize that the slow areas were the traveling, gettting to & from. Which if you lived there 'back then' - it would be very hard - and whether all is actually fact or not - this story does give you an idea of just how cold it is in Alaska and how very hard it was for those with gold-fever to travel. Much more harsh than traveling to the gold mines in west part {California & other areas) of the USA. But the main part of this story is about Elizabeth {about 2-3 yrs old} being taken from her mother (unwed) {by her mother's father} and put in an orphanage and Elizabeth's life after that. Elizabeth went through a great deal. She meets Noah and gradually romance does develop even though she does not think she is worthy and pushes away. There is danger, why she left her adopted parents, and later from a man who wants reward money to return her, as well as the dangers of traveling on the ice cold river.

Good read
Easy read. Enjoyed the Alaskan setting. Was entertaining but simple to follow. A rather quick ending that could have been developed more, but good read.

Superbe
Je ne fais que rarement des commentaires sur mes lectures. C'est donc une exception à la règle car ce livre semble avoir une âme. Histoire avec un vrai fil conducteur, de superbes descriptions, et beaucoup de réalisme.
