Maybe TMI but here is my story: Living with BV has been a nightmare. I found out I had BV when I was 18 years old (I am now 25). Clueless as to what BV even was, I was soon to become very aware of it. The first symptoms I had of BV were the discharge, they would come and go and I was too embarrassed to ask my parents or anyone else if it was normal or if something was terribly wrong. I never noticed an odor until intercourse with my boyfriend (who has stuck all this out with me for 6 years now). We had just started dating and he noticed the odor a couple weeks before I even did. Finally one night during intercourse I noticed it (I may have even noticed it before but chose to ignore it, kinda like I did with the discharge) I finally asked him what that smell was (all you ladies dealing with reoccurring BV know the horrid smell). I just blurted out with out even thinking "what is that smell" my boyfriend seemed relieved once I said it, he told me he had noticed the odor for a couple weeks now but didn't know how to ask me about it without hurting my feelings. I then, was scared. A million thoughts went threw my head as to what was wrong with me. The next morning I showed up at my OBGYN desperate to see him. My doctor prescribed me metronidazole gel to use twice a day for 7 days and a soap to douce with in-between uses. When I left the doctors office I felt relieved, it wasn't an STD and it was curable after a week of gel. I called my boyfriend and he too was relieved. That was the first time I have ever heard of BV but wasn't too concerned because I got my medicine and I thought I would be well on my way, unfortunately that would not be my last time with BV. After my week of metronidazole was up I got BV again right after my boyfriend and I had intercourse again so I made a trip to the doctor once again the very next day this time he prescribed me the pill form of flagyl, that seemed to last me a good month until I started my cycle then the very next week I had BV AGAIN. I made trips to my doctor at least once every 2 months getting refills for my BV. My doctor would tell me to try having intercourse with condoms and that maybe I was having a reaction the the sperm, I tried that and nothing worked. I finally got so frustrated with it coming back I seemed to have BV more often then being clear of it. I decided to do a little research on my on I spent hours one night reading everything I could find about BV and basically what it concluded was there really was no known cure for reoccurring BV so I began trying everything I could find that helped some women with the same problem as me. The first thing I tried was: ALL THIS OVER A COURCE OF 6 YEARS Refresh gel- It worked, FOR LIKE A DAY as long as I had the gel in me it helped with the smell but right after intercourse the horrid BV would be back The second thing I cam across was: douching with 1/2 Hydrogen Peroxide 1/2 water- it seemed to work with the smell and the discharge was a little better but my BV was never really gone with it. (IDK about you guys but I can tell when my BV even if the smell and discharge are not there, I just do not feel clean down there no matter if I have just gotten out of the shower or not) so I gave up on this as well Third thing (still doing this): All cotton panties: I read wearing all cotton panties helps you breathe down there, I also wear none at night to seems to help but I still have BV once a month 4th: Probiotics and inserting plain yogurt into my vagina- I read so many great reviews on this and for a while I thought that I had found the cure. I inserted yogurt in me with a tampon once and took a probiotic every day for about 2 weeks straight and didn't have a BV outbreak for almost a year. I would take the probiotic randomly when I thought about it ( tired to take them every day but sometimes I would forget) and I went from having BV once a month to almost a year without having BV. Then one day it was like it just quit working, I started having BV again every month 5th: Yogurt inserted vaginally: I inserted the yogurt everyday for seven days and it did nothing. didn't help with the BV at all 6th: Probiotics inserted vaginally: I read to insert the probiotics vaginally I bought like 3 different kinds of probiotics ( the womens health was one, the refresh kind, and another kind that I read was one of the best) again it did nothing 7th: I then was so frustrated I went to walmart and spent about 60 dollars in OTC treatment for BV NOTHING WORKED 8th:(what I'm doing now) Douching with straight hydrogen peroxide: I read that douching with 15mL of hydrogen peroxide for 7 days will help and it does, it seems to help hide some of the symptoms it helps with the odor and I can hide my continuous outbreaks from my boyfriend 9th: (and hopefully last) Boric Acid: I ordered the boric Acid and capsules off amazon after reading all these great reviews. I am a little nervous due to the fact that it is poison but I am so desperate at this point that it outweighs my nervousness. Tonight is the first night I inserted it and I plan to insert it straight for 14 days, then twice a week for 6 months (because that is what I read) I will keep up with how it works and if the good out weighs the bad. I am hoping and praying for good results and for a cure. I know, if you are going threw what I am going threw with BV how pure AWFUL it is. I hope to have a good of review as everything I have read. Okay, so, if you consider all things ladyparts-related to be TMI - I suggest you stop now. If you're a woman troubled by how your downstairs is treating you, then please read on, for this product is a MIRACLE. ...well. Yeast infections. Yeah, that's right. This review is going to be about the lack of yeast infections because this works so amazingly. Here's the deal: DO NOT INGEST THIS OR PUT IT ON OPEN WOUNDS. Otherwise, this stuff is great. It kills roaches and pests (and yeast)! After reading about boric acid and yeast infections online, I decided to try this as I was pretty desperate. My hormone imbalances in addition to my IUD was giving me that inevitable itch every month. You know, *that* tickle at the beginning of my monthly cycle. I was spending too much time and money to have the discomfort of OTC yeast infection treatments bothering me when I was trying to treat something that's already ming-bogglingly discomforting in its own right. The Monistat would help, sure, but then I had to wear pads, couldn't get intimate with my boyfriend, and it was just a hassle. A hassle that I was willing to go through for relief, until I finally decided to take the plunge and put this powder in size 00 vegetable capsules with a bit of coconut oil and stick it up there. (I don't use a capsule maker. I sat down one night with gloves and made 30 and put them in a Ziploc and I keep them in a cool, dry place. I also have the bag labeled appropriately - saying "DO NOT INGEST" - this is especially important if you have kids or keep it in a place that someone else might see it and think it's something else.) For real, though, I've been using these for over six months, and the affordable price and convenience and actual, legitimate results are insane. This stuff just kills yeast FAST. If I start to feel that tickle down there, I insert one capsule before bed, and I feel at LEAST 98% better by morning, if not 100%. Sometimes there is some discharge during the day that has a very clear and watery consistency, and if this bugs you, you can wear a panty liner, but if you only insert one (and by all means if you're having a raging infection, insert two) you should not have much of anything happening the next day. I was apprehensive initially because of what the warnings on the bottle say, but as long as the bottle says "NF," I'm under the impression that it's fine as a suppository. Again, do NOT take it orally. This was a godsend. It was so cheap and it will last me forever, and it doesn't hurt me at all. I know OTC Monistat gives a lot of women burning sensations, and nobody should have to go through that for relief.

Since a lot of reviews are relatively short-term, here's a pretty historical one for you... I ordered this in April 2016. It is now December 2022. I used it to treat BV 6.5 years ago and have had absolutely no problems since. When I got BV, I had never even had a yeast infection and had a weird amount of pride about my vaginal health, so I was really psychologically messed up about it and very determined to return to my previous bacterial balance as soon as possible. I had already read horror stories of the BV/YI cycle triggered by antibiotics, but I was fortunate to have a rather progressive gyno who prescribed me boric acid instead of antibiotics in the first place. Feel free to let that calm you down about putting an acid in your vagina (although you shouldn't be too worried--acids are not inherently harmful, and this is a very weak one anyway!). I initially used one size 00 capsule suppository every night for 10 days, which got rid of all of my symptoms after one use. However, my pH was back up to about 5 within a few days of stopping, which I knew was tracking towards relapse, so I kept going. At this point, I was VERY concerned about the bad bacteria becoming entrenched and forming a biofilm, so I may have overdone it, but I kept using one capsule nightly for about 3 months. After that, I weaned off to every other night for another 3 months, and then I stopped completely. No problems after that. In hindsight, I think I could've cut that time in half, but I had no negative effects and this stuff was so cheap and easy to use. The only side effect I experienced was a large amount of clear, odorless, watery discharge first thing in the morning. I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned that because it was shocking to me when it first happened! Maybe it doesn't happen to everyone, or maybe it was just the capsules I had, but don't be alarmed if that happens. Also, be aware that you will have an utterly odorless, tasteless vagina while you're using this. That may sound great when you're in the throes of BV, but it's almost eerie. When your healthy flora comes back, don't mistake it for a relapse! Hopefully this is helpful and gives you hope, even if you've already tried this but keep having to use it for maintenance. One of the worst parts of my BV experience was that I was constantly thinking about my vagina (not in a fun way) and how awful it felt to have something wrong with it, even when I was technically completely symptomless during my boric acid course. It took me a long time to stop being paranoid about it, but eventually I was able to trust that it was gone for good and I haven't thought about it in years. In fact, the only thing that prompted me to write this review is that I recently used some of the leftover boric acid to help kill some mold on a piece of wood! All this to say, I know how easily BV can take over your life, but this stuff will give it back to you. And a big thanks to this product in particular for being so affordable and having the right consistency for this use!

I myself am another bv suffer!! I'm so happy to know I am not alone! I'm 30 years old and up until a few months ago I've never had bv maybe an occasional YI after an antibiotic (learned my lessons take diflucan with every antibiotic!!). I did not even know I had bv till I had my annual I though I had a UTI.. Constant peeing and pressure. She tested me and the bv came back positive. She put me on flagyl oral (DEVILs drug) and after I was done with that a few days later the problem same symptoms came back. I told her I'd spaz out if I had to go on flagyl again.. So she gave me the dreaded gel.. After that was done.. Few days later same symptoms.. Gel again.. I've had It by now!! How does a Gyno doctor not know what else to do.. Oh and got a yeast infection I between all this.. I went hunting myself for an answer.. I saw boric acid as a treatment.. When I first saw that wtf!? Was my first though. I read the reviews on here and It seemed God sent! I ordered everything everyone else was using. I got it home and did it half powder half coconut oil.. No problems with burning or anything.. Had some watery discharge but I read that's normal. I smelled a weird smell tho.. Realized it was the coconut oil.. I hate the smell of it.. Next day I didn't use the oil but I used sterile lube. That worked perfect! No smell! I did It for 7 days straight. It's working like a charm. I am done with my 7 days. I will continue to use after intimacy and my monthly hoping this is the Saving grace. I do also use a probiotic daily by represh it is the only one I found to have the good bacteria with studies on It for helping woman's health issues.

Small quantity, and reasonable price, not high, but not the best value either. Wish this was sold in larger bags. I finally found a POWDERED BORIC ACID! This is a fine powder, not a granular powder. This means it dissolves in liquids fast and fully, is a better dusting powder for shoe smells, and clings to bugs as a non toxic bug killer. Unfortunately, the granular version, is often deceptively labeled as a 'powder' but does none of the above. I had to return one of these recently. Boric Acid is so useful I think the mega drug companies are forcing the FDA to not allow it to be sold. It has a huge number of benefits and its non toxic overall. What I want to use this for: 1. Mix with hydrogen peroxide and carefully apply this to my dog's entire body, esp the tear stain areas, taking great care not to let it drip into eyes, nose, mouth. He has fungal issues all over his skin. He is a mini poodle. It came on gradually, he is a rescue, and I could not find any medicated shampoo that works. His skin is getting Malassezia all over, probably due to declining hormones or who knows what. His diet is all real food high quality, gets bathed often, walkies daily, cannot figure out what to do. I saw this as a remedy and will try it out. His toes are very rust colored due to frequent licking and chewing. I will coat his paws with it, and his face, and body. The rust comes from iron and porphyrin in saliva, the itching comes from yeast - either ringworm (tinea) or Malassezia. Peroxide bleaches the color out, bringing back the white fur. Boric acid kills the yeast. 2. Use as a dusting powder in my sneakers so they don't smell and start any fungus growing in there. I wash them weekly but this is a nice additional precaution. 3. Dust my plants with sulphur and boric acid and Diatomaceous earth so bugs die and birds live. 4. Make a paste of this for my own feet so I don't get foot fungus from pool and workouts. 5. Sprinkle a line around where the roaches are coming in from outside - constant problem in summer, along with ants. Kill dem dang bugs! Every house needs Boric Acid. Heartily recommend!

Like the legions of women who have bravely posted their stories here about the benefits of boric acid for the treatment of the horrible bacterial vaginosis/yeast infection cycle, I can say it worked for me. Like many before as well, I was completely skeptical. I had tried prescriptions for Diflucan and Metrogel. I had tried EVERY home cure known to man...except the boric acid. It's ACID for Heaven's sake! It kills ants and roaches. My GOSH why would it work in a delicate female area? I read every single review here on Amazon. I read every single post on Earthlink. I read everything online I could get my hands on. In almost every case, boric acid was the holy grail that ended the nightmare. I was diagnosed with BV after my hysterectomy three months ago. The anitbiotics used pre-op, the prep before surgery, and the extended healing time (due to non-compliance) and the fact I am post menopausal, drink coffee and wine set me up for the perfect storm. I read all I could on BV. I learned it's not an infection, but an upset in the pH balance in the vagina. The good bacteria are outnumbered and can't keep up. So your doctor prescribes the front line defense...antibiotics. Which kills all the bacteria. Which sets you up for a yeast infection. So then you get to use Difulcan. Which kills the yeast, and lets the bacteria take over. Our vaginal environment is very delicate. I decided that there was no way I was going to let this control my life. I was not going to do the Metrogel...too much information about it works for a week and BAM! You have a yeast infection now. Then the Diflucan treatment for yeast which works for a bit and BAM! BV is back. It's hideous! During my hours and hours and hours of research, I found HUMCO mentioned, I found it here on Amazon, read each and every review...twice, and decided to do as so many had done and purchased the boric acid and 00 veggie caps. Made my own being careful not to inhale or spill. It was not difficult at all. Stored them in an empty aspirin bottle clearly marked DO NOT EAT. I took a deep breath, said a prayer and inserted one at night before bed. The next morning I was 100% convinced it was gone. Praise God! In the meantime, during the massive research I did, I also added Renew Life 90Billion Probiotics, folic acid, B, C and D vitamins to my daily routine. I did the boric acid for three nights and felt more confident than I had in weeks. Then I had a relapse...this BV is tough to control, let alone get rid of, so decided after all the many reviews about maintenance that I should probably do that as well. I have not been using this product long enough to know if it will 100% cure, but it certainly 100% controls BV/YI. I cannot say enough about the women before me who shared their stories, shared their anguish, shared their experiences of living for years, decades sometimes with BV and how this boric acid changed their lives. . I would NEVER have tried this if not for them. If you have suffered (and suffer we do) with chronic BV/YI and have tried everything to no avail except this product...do not hesitate any longer to try it. Do it. Do it for your sanity, your confidence, your health. While BV/YI are not particularly dangerous, what they do is strip you of your sense of being a healthy, normal woman. It got to point that all I could think about was my kitty. I'm still just in the early phases of this treatment regimen, but have to say I am so very grateful to have tried it. So very grateful to the previous reviewers. So very grateful it works. I also should note here that I do not do product reviews. I like to read them, just don't do them. But in this case, because so many women face this ugly beast every day, and I now know how destructive it can be to your very soul, I wanted to let any woman out there who may be on the fence about this product being used for BV/YI to not fear trying it. If you have read this far, and you are here for relief to end your suffering, you have found a way out. Rest assured the hundreds of posters before me, and this humble poster want you to know there is hope, help, and an end to your pain.

I used this along with the veg 00 caps for lady issues. After I hit 40 I started having chronic bv and yeast issues by the onset of my monthly or immediately following ***. It's been VERY expensive going the doctor/prescription route and has had a detrimental impact on my romantic relationship not to mention feminine psyche. I was just starting to think I'm truly going to have to make the decision to give up intimate relation. I fell upon this site somehow accidentally and feel blessed. I purchased this stuff did the remedy as explained by countless reviewers and boom, worked! and after only 3 days. So easy, cheap and not at all messy. At first I found myself to be really angry that no doctor ever told me about this, they just kept handing out expensive prescriptions and burning cremes that did nothing but made me resistant and set me up for recurrent problems. I'm starting to do more and more research on herbal and homeopathic remedies as I'm losing more and more trust in the doctor's nowadays, not to mention the COSTS of appointments and prescriptions, one has to be rich to afford. A couple things that weren't mentioned that might prove useful for a first timer doing this like me is. The cap does dissolve in you. If you run it (with nothing inside of it) under water you will feel the oily texture and how it breaks down, well that's what it does inside of you. I did not coat the cap in any kind of oil or put any oil inside. The first night, I felt very light period cramp, not even enough to be a "cramp" but that feeling one was going to come on. The second night, maybe a slight burning sensation, but only VERY slight (I think I was just feeling the cap dissolve) absolutely NO discomfort though. By the second day when I went to insert, there was not even any odor at all. Make sure and get the cap up as far as you can so it can reach your cervix as the infection might be coming from that. Doing with clean hands is fine, goes up easy. These were simple to make and SO cheap. I just poured powder out on paper plate, put on some plastic gloves and literally scooped/pushed the power into the open gel cap, then put the lid on, done. Did about 14 in 10 minutes. Careful to dispose of the plate and gloves as I have animals in the house. Then labeled my caps as to what they were and to NOT INGEST, just in case they fell into the wrong hands. I'm very happy I found something that finally works, I'm only upset I didn't run across this years ago, I literally would have saved myself hundreds and hundreds of dollars, time, frustration, embarrassment and hopelessness. This is a real review. I only hope the government and pharmaceutical companies don't put a ban on this stuff being sold to any consumer when/if they get wind women are using it INSTEAD of spending thousands going to the doctors.

Like many reviewers for this product, I was tired of suffering from all the fun little vaginal problems that come along with being a woman. I have had YI and UTI problems for as long as I can remember. I exercise a lot, wear tights/leggings almost daily and I know my attire is partially to blame for my recurring infections. Occasionally sex and my period seems to be a contributor but not always. After switching to all cotton panties my problems decreased significantly but I still get a fun little combo of both a UTI and a YI several times a year. They seem to always co-exist. I have taken antibiotics for the UTIs and anti-fungals for the YIs but really I am just fixing one problem to make the next worse it seems. I accidentally learned about this whole Boric Acid craze while searching for cheaper YI medications on Amazon. A reviewer on one of those products mentioned boric acid and said she swears by it now. And thus began my research. I wasn't about to put something so scary inside of my vajayjay without proper research. Finally I decided it was worth a try and the worst that could happen was my vagina becoming unusable... But it's not like I was die. I purchased this brand mainly due to it's price. I received the bottle quickly and read the label only to see all kinds of scary warnings basically saying "don't put this stuff on or in your body for any reason". Not exactly the reassuring label you want to read before putting this product inside your own body. I went back and reread the reviews for this product just to make sure I wasn't crazy or ordered the wrong thing. Nope. All good, supposedly. I had ordered the recommended capsules but they hadn't arrived yet and I didn't want to wait. So I simply dipped my finger in the powder and inserted my finger just inside my vagina. There was no burning. No tingling. It didn't FEEL like anything. Within 10 minutes I did notice more of a bacterial smell down there but I just figured that was a good thing. My body was kicking the infection to the curb so now it was just going to be a bit smellier while it did it's thing. I did this about 2 hours before bed. I didn't want to fall asleep with this new acid inside me and then wake up in searing pain. After two hours I felt 100% better. It seemed to have not only reduced my YI symptoms to a barely noticeable level but my UTI urgency feeling had disappeared as well. Soooo, I went to bed happy to have happy lady bits for the first time in nearly a week. Keep in mind I barely used any of the powder. I didn't even wet my finger before dipping it in the powder. It was less product than half a crushed up aspirin would create. When I woke up my YI seemed to still be gone but my UTI urgency was back (the pain of urinating had stayed away) so I wetted my finger, did the dip 'n' shove method again and went to work. I think this stuff is magic. I haven't used it that long but I will update my review after I receive my capsules and can do a full "cleanse" once and for all.
