Hope this helps. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ starter drive *by A***R on January 11, 2025* ok ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Be sure to use rubber grommet behind brass gear in assembly *by B***. on May 3, 2022* The media could not be loaded. Be sure to use rubber grommet even though not originally on starter. Assemble 1) white ring with shape for teeth, 2) brass gear, 3) rubber grommet, 4) snap on white ring with brass center circular gear that makes gear push up on shaft. I don’t know why it’s in this service kit and not on original assembly but I know for sure it won’t work without it. I tried it without the grommet and gear just spins but doesn’t shoot out to engage flywheel. Also be sure that the last little brass ring prior to snap ring is turned so groove is on top for the ring to nest into like in my BEFORE picture with the damaged gear. This helps keep the snap ring in place and prevents it from popping off. Do NOT do it like my in process after picture where you can see the snap ring. I corrected and flipped this prior to install. Be sure to test by rotating with your hand to be sure gear moves up on the shaft as it turns so it will engage the flywheel gears on the engine. Then you will know it’s assembled correctly. Last tip use an 8mm socket to push the snap ring onto the shaft into the groove. Put ring on top of shaft then place 8mm socket on top keeping everything straight then give it a nice pop with a hammer and voila the ring is in place in its groove. Take your time and take pictures along the way because the smallest mistake can ruin all your hard work. This kit is expensive but worth it to get my electric start back for my wife and daughter.
