Review: Good info - Great book for beginners Review: Great book and resource on stock buying - Really enjoyed this book. It's written in an easy to read and follow manner. After reading it from front to back, I've gone back and reviewed several helpful chapters. Good detail without overdoing it. Helped me to understand ratios in particular, and offered details as to what is a good or bad ratio. While it doesn't go into great detail on some topics, it makes sure to touch them all, and give you a basic understanding. Some topics are so deep that it would take an book of their own to cover in detail. This book is not intended to provide tips on what stock to buy, but does help you get a better handle on how to research stocks. While it does offer some chart graphics as examples, I do wish it offered samples of each type of chart it discussed.

Taught me the basics, easy to understand
This is a pretty thorough introduction to what you need to know to buy and sell stocks for long- term investing. Note: this book focuses on long-term investment only, using fundamental analysis. It is not for those who want to learn to day trade, or make money on the stock market quick. It touches on technical analysis (looking for patterns in data) only in one section.

Great book!!
This book arrived well packaged and on time. The author is famous for writing many excellent books on this topic. It is well written for novices like me who know little about the stock market. Do not hesitate to get this book!! There is a reason why this author is so widely published!!! 😀

It seems like it will teach you enough to make a good decision when buying stocks
I say "it seems" because I just got started with investing. If you are a GME bag holder then you probably came to the right place. This book focuses a lot on long term investments, none of that "get rich quick" stuff. Don't discard it tho, you need to know the basics before you try the advanced stuff. I always wanted to invest my money and buy stocks but never did. I decided to buy this book and quite honestly I do not regret it so far. You will learn what to look for to make a good investment, the key factors and questions you need to answer before you put your hard-earned money into a stock. The book is written in such a way that you can read any chapter you are interested, because of that, you'll find some repetition in a few places. You may read about P/E ratios in 2-3 chapters, sometimes the same sentence/paragraph but I guess it serves to better make you remember what it is! The book teaches you about doing a Fundamental Analysis of a company before buying stock and I did just that but being a beginner how do I know I'm doing it right??? Well, I feel confident with what I did because while I was searching the internet for information about the company I started seeing people talking about the company and reaching to a similar conclusions that I have reached about the value of the stock and the company. That gave me a lot of confidence in knowing that what I learned from the book was actually good information. If you've never bought stocks and don't know much about the subject, buy this book, it's well worth it.

Great reference book for basic stock investing
Great and informative book! It provides a base of knowledge for understanding both fundamental and technical analysis of stocks. It's easy to read and is a reference style book that I can continue to refer to in the future. The author approaches it from a long-term, value buying, common sense perspective, rather than a get-rich-quick perspective. It really filled in the gaps of my knowledge of stocks. In particular, the statistical measures of value and performance. Highly recommend.

Straightforward language, great sense of humor.
Straightforward language, great sense of humor. The book goes very in-depth into LONG-TERM investment. If you are trying to make quick money or into stock trading this book is not for you.

Overly simplistic
Good book for beginners. The book presents general information such as a presentation of the main ratios and a few technical charts without presenting or studying them, just to give a very simple overview of what exists on the markets and stock market analysis.

Good starter pack for beginners
Very informative and packed with resources that you can lean on once you’re done with this “text book”. Emphasizes on the Golden rule to stick to the basics to improve your net worth. Wider coverage of techniques to pick winners, brokers, and dissecting a company’s financials. The author’s dislike towards technical analysis is more so obvious that he didn’t need to state it at the chapter beginning. So, some readers looking for these details might lose that benefit. But I’m not into technical chart analysis either as I can’t remember so many patterns and don’t have the time to track it every single minute, so fundamental analysis is more towards my nature. Overall, recommend this book for any amateur stock investors to have strong foundation.

Very informative read.
After reading this, i realised a lot of mistakes i'd made in investing, and why i'd lost hundreds when i started investing. After reading this book, i know i'll still make mistakes as there's no predicting the complex world of stocks, but i at least have the ability now to do due diligence. Note that the book "Investing in shares" is the UK equivalent of this book, going into the UK tax laws. It's the same book, but for a UK audience.
