The Sansui is a classic AM/FM Stereo receiver manufactured around 1972 when companies put decent AM radios into their products. I restored and upgraded this receiver and know that it's AM radio is very good. It uses a ferrite rod antenna on the rear of the radio for AM reception but in my remote location reception is poor without some help. I didn't expect too much from the Grundig and bought it mainly as an experiment.I couldn't believe how well the Grundig worked, the AM band just came alive with stations. I used the supplied coax cable to connect the Grundig to the external AM antenna connections on the Sansui receiver. As other reviewers have said, Grundig should have made this cable a lot longer than three feet. You can make up a longer cable using RG-174 coax which is thin and easy to handle. Probably any good quality shielded cable would work as well. The Grundig uses a standard 1/8 inch stereo audio jack and plug. The center conductor of the cable goes to the tip of the 1/8 inch plug. The shield braid is connected to the longer length ring closest to the body of the plug. This is the usual ground connection for stereo audio use. The shorter ring of the plug (between tip and ground ring) is a no connect in the Grundig wiring arrangement.The loop antenna is well made and the base large enough to help prevent tipping the antenna over on its side. The tuning control works well and on the Sansui was very sharp to adjust. The stations just "popped" into focus at the correct setting. Control range covered the entire AM band from 540 to 1600 KHz.I didn't expect to get this level of performance from such a small loop antenna and am happy with the results. I would buy it again and highly recommend it. ### ⭐ Very expensive piece of junk... *by L***K on November 19, 2014* No matter what I do, this does not seem to help the reception of my Bose Wave radio at all. The radio sits low in the room. I have put this antenna right next to it and moved it slowly in all directions, and have fiddled with the fine tuner. All to no avail. I think this is a piece of junk. If anyone knows how to get this to work, please post something so my money does not go to waste. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Old Grundig Radio Likes the antenna in passive mode. *by H***G on November 29, 2014* I have a vintage Grundig tube radio I just had repaired in LA at a place that specializes in changing the "caps" and tuning it up.Well, he did a superb job and the "magic eye" shows the signal level much improved after repair. So I purchased one of these Grundig passive antennas to see if it would pick up AM stations better. I set the passive antenna on top of the radio, tuned in a station and then tuned the passive antenna for best reception. 1st obvious thing was I could hear a "whomp" when it tuned to the station and the "magic eye" moved closer together indicating the signal was being received at a higher level. For me, it makes a slight improvement. Others might find it makes much more improvement or a lot less and it certainly depends where you locate the antenna. It does look cool sitting on top of the ole Grundg radio like something out of "Buck Rogers" I could see some people would have much higher expectations for this antenna that it actually provides.
