Cast Iron Utensil Holder / Red Rooster Design

It's heavy. Really heavy. If it falls on your foot or a pet, it - not the utensil holder - will get squished. And that is EXACTLY what you want, something which won't fall over - even if whatever things you put into it spread out at the top like a tree. Sure, it's pretty and there are lots of red rooster kitchen accessories available. It looks good, doesn't take up much counter space, holds fistfuls of utensils, and will never, ever, tip over.Because it's heavy.

The Red Rooster utensil holder is a nice chunk of cast iron in an earthy red-orange. It was probably designed in the 1920s and they are still following the plans. I have patio chairs made with less substantial cast iron.

Very solid utensil holder. I just wish these came in various colors. I spray painted it metallic orange and then sprayed a laminate coating over it. Now I have a beautiful orange utensil holder which I use for silverware, counter-to-table. It really is a beautiful cast iron piece!
