Soldering Tip, Chisel, 2.4mm x 14.5mm

These are definitely the real deal without question and if you have ever tried to solder and failed leaving you wondering what you were doing wrong well me too and then I tried one of these and it was nite and day. Good tip plus good solder is a must.

This tip is ideal for soldering and desoldering of XLR-type audio connectors with the Hakko irons system.

I got this for a model 936 and the fit is perfect. I was so relieved when this solder tip arrived and it was a real genuine Hakko. I have purchased many items that were cheap knock offs from China and they didn't last long at all. It seems that all the tips heat up reasonably quickly but the Hakko tips hold and recover fast enough that they are actually usable. They also tin more easily. The tip tins easily and the 2.4 mm width is close if not spot on to the original size that came with the soldering station. For a backup station, I use a Tenma (model 936 clone). It works okay but it doesn't hold a candle to the Hakko. BUT, this tip fits it too so I will order another one for it. Genuine HAKKO soldering tip. Holds heat perfectly and the plating is excellent. Highly recommended..

The default tip that comes with the FX-888D is very small, not great for larger wire or high heat jobs. This tip is larger than the default Hakko tips and works great for when you need to make more contact to heat up your solder point faster. Watch the price. Suggested retail for these tips is around five dollars, some third party sellers on Amazon have them marked up quite a bit.

Hakko T18 tip has superior thermal conductivity, higher thermal mass compared with imitators. It melts solder faster at the same temperature setting, which means you can use it at slightly lower temperature setting, then the tip oxidizes much slower, you can pay more attention to the project instead of taking care of soldering tip. Even it is also made out of copper core and iron alloy outer layer, better precision makes thermal resistance three times(measured by me) lower when compared with most other tips which you get 10 with price of a single Hakko tip. But I found I use Hakko tip more than 10 times more likely. It lasts years for a hobbyist, outer layer may rust but does not affect performance.

Good quality, lasts a long time if you coat the tip in solder after use, no corrosion after several uses. Fits on both my different brand soldering irons and heats up very quickly. Not much more to say, it's a solder tip that does the job!
