It's genius. Buy any old diapers, preferably for a larger toddler or small kid. Cut off the 4 elastic pieces that Velcro together so you basically have a giant pad. Then open the back of the diaper like a bag of chips. You'll see the fluffy pad, make sure to push the padding to the inside of the diaper to it can be absorbent, leaving the ice next to the outer shell of the diaper. You can staple or tape the back closed. Crushed ice is most comfortable, and you'll need to experiment with the amount of ice that is right for you. I would make 10 of these up at a time and stick them in the freezer. Best. Things. Ever. **Q: How long do these packs stay warm after microwaving to use for heat?** A: These are cold packs to use for cooling not heating. This helps SO MUCH with my migraines and neck aches. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Ice Pack Solution for my Wife's Full Knee Replacement *by D***S on September 8, 2019* Since my wife had her full knee replacement almost two weeks ago, we have been trying all sorts of ice solutions and then discovered these ice packs. The advantages for us have been: (1) narrow enough that two bags fix along both sides of the knee - rather than one big heavy compress sitting on top of the knee; (2) even frozen, they are still flexible enough to bend around the knee and can be oriented as needed for pain; (3) they last about 20 minutes - about five minutes more than recommended by physical therapy ... and they freeze back up very quickly (generally in just over an hour); (4) they are small and light enough that they do not add pressure to the knee causing pain. The only negative we have is that while they ship in a nice tiestring bag - that bag is too thin for holding the frozen compress ... we are wrapping them in light towels which does the trick but expect to use the tiestring bags for storage.
