OK. For all the whiners out there saying its "smaller" than they expected. Its actually BIGGER than stated in the description. 12" total length, 3 1/2" wide blade. The sheath is adequate, with a blade guard. Its a great weight for light to medium chopping. The handle is comfortable but thin. I have no trouble gripping it at all. Even better with gloves on. Its a perfect addition to my gear, giving my machete a break from chopping kindling, and giving me a hammer for my tent stakes. Upon receiving it I took it to the bathroom where the light is good, and proceeded to SHAVE a bald spot on my arm. YES, MINE IS SHAVING SHARP, right outta the box. The textured finish on the black portion of the blade and handle looks great. I am VERY SATISFIED with my purchase and have already recommended it to others. This is my 7th Mtech product, and they ALL have surpassed my expectations. Thanks for a great product and an outstanding value.

The hatchet itself is very sturdy and feels good in the hand. Comes out of the box sharp. The only reason I gave it a 4 star is because of the sheath. The sheath has a thin/weak loop. Also the hatchet hangs out of the sheath. With only a snap button to catch and keep in the sheath. If the sheath had been made a little more snug with a thicker belt loop. Carry in back pack. I would have given 5 star. Good for the money and working on branches. Anything bigger, get a saw (duh).

This is an excellent camping axe for the price. I was mainly looking something to split some kindling off fire wood and this is perfect. It's a good weight, not too large, but has enough to give it a good swing. This thing comes EXTREMELY sharp! So be careful opening and using it. It does not need to be sharpened. I barely bumped my finger with it and got a good slice. Overall very pleased with this purchase and the quality of the axe, can't beat it for the price

This axe is heavier than most which I prefer. Very well made item. Will be set after I put a nice sharp edge on it. Looks good ... Easy to manuver.... Mate black is a plus. Con: handle is a little small for the weight of the axe but over all very nice. Purchased another axe for half the cost "on sale" to compare too. There was no comparison this axe was - hands down better made ,better usability, and better quality. Worth every penny !!!

This could be a good axe but for me the handle is too thin and doesn't have alot of grip to it. The axe itself is smaller than I expected. Also, the thin handle makes it hard to hold if you have bigger hands. I'm afraid it might go flying if I get sweat on my hands or lose concentration while swinging. Overall, it cuts well. It comes with a sheath/cover but it doesn't fit snug. The axe slips right out of the which makes it useless if you'd like to carry it on your belt (which seems to be the intended use). It's more of a "just in case" tool. Can't say how well it'll hold it's edge yet but it arrived sharp and ready to go.

I cant tell you how sick i am of all these foreign companies that just mass produce huge quantities of garbage. This hatchet makes me proud to be an american. It is one peice, solid, and sharper than hell. This thing just feels like it was meant to be in my hands, fantastic grip. The sheath is nice, main reason i bought it was for the beltloop sheath. I do ALOT of online shopping through amazon, and purchase alot of chinese products that LOOK great in the advertisement, but mostly leave me with average feelings upon reception, nothing special. This hatchet makes me remember that there are still real craftsmen at work in the world that are NOT settling for quantity over quality. I had never heard of Mtech until buying this. You can be sure that i will be coming back in the future, and definetely recommending them to my friends and family.

A fantastic versatile durable lightweight short handled hatchet. I bought this to carry with me on hikes as well as backpacking and camping trips. I love the Comfort grip handle the sharpness durability of the hatchet and the belt clip. I've used this from chopping small little branches to cutting my way through some sizable logs and a necessary cases even cutting my food. I am very pleased with the weight and the compactness. when choosing something this lightweight and compact your trading off some of the force from the swing as well as the weight in your ability to chop through wood. the strength and durability as well as the sharpness of the hatchet blade makes up for a little bit of this. but when it comes to cutting larger logs be prepared to take lots and lots of swings.

Great hatchet. Used for three seasons and still works well. Nice size and weight. It does fall out of the sheath and so can't clip it to your belt or bag.

Ok but very small. Also couldnt cut thru a small log with it first time i tried. Comes with case and quality is good, just a bit ineffective for an axe

El hacha está muy bien, se ve de buena calidad, resistente y tiene buen filo. El único detalle es la funda, traía algunos hilos sueltos y queda un poco grande para el hacha.

Small, portable and decently heavy axe. Great for chopping small branches or splitting small-medium sized wood during camping.
