,NEU / VERSCHWEISST. - .Label: Monkeytown.Published: 2013 Review: Solid album with at least 2 of my new fav tracks - I'm not a music critic so I won't give you my deep track-by-track analysis, but I can say that I like every song on the album and really love at least 2 (Gita and bad kingdom). I was stunned by their first album and their 2nd, while very different in style is equally good. Review: Good seller - Awesome quality. Thanks!

i find this album very good for playing in the background while working. i found out about this project from Future Music magazine interview, and so after being impressed with what i saw them do in the studio i decided to check out the latest album. it does not disappoint!

Moderat at it again.
Good sounds, good beats, good stuff. If you enjoy quality electronica, this is a good one to check out. Do it.

holy s*** this is a beautiful album....
I love Modeselektor. Apparat is okay, but Modeselektor, with their 50 weapons label, are the most under rated electronic act working in my humble opinion. The berlin duo's last record "monkeytown" is barely in the past, the tour had just finished when they announced the release of "II," the follow up to the self titled debut. I didn't expect it to be a five star record, i didn't expect it to be a likely favorite for 2013, (which is getting harder and harder, there's alot of good music this year!) but it is, it is. This record is like a daydream, you can play it as background music and it will slide by, you'll reach the end thinking "god, that was quick, best play it again..." closer listens with headphones will only reward, as this record has possibly the greatest production duo in the world at the top of their game at the helm. The overall beats, synths, vocal manipulations, and general atmosphere is crafted here with the most gentle of hands. This record is soft around the edges. Songs like the stark, beautiful "Gita" are so perfectly arranged instrumentally that it feels as if there's not a thing more, or less, to be added here. These songs were all handled with such care, and the result is one of the warmest, best "headphones junkie" record of the year without a doubt. The rolling bounce of the ten minute track, "milk...."...the gauzy daze of "this time," these songs are dance worthy, sitting staring out the window of a bus worthy, or just holding the casing slack jawed in amazement at this monumental, brilliant achievement of a record. I am honestly shocked that there aren't more reviews. This is pure gold, from begining to end. BUY IT. And check out the deluxe, there's an extra song "last time," that's definately worth the money.

Moderat shows us what electronic music can be
Just like Moderat's first album, II is compelling and consistent. Every time I play this album, I end up playing it twice.

Great album bad sound quality for some reason
Not sure why but it was jumping and skipping right away, didn’t appear dirty or anything so maybe it was just a bad pressing.

Moderat deliver one of the year's best albums
2013 has been a particularly exciting year for electronica; Boards of Canada reemerged after 8 years of silence, the Orb released their 'history', whilst Autechre, Jon Hopkins, Mount Kimbie, Bonobo, Dj Koze, Sasha, Drumcell & Apparat have all released some new and enjoyable stuff. Moderat's announcement that they were to release their follow up to their self-titled first album appeared the icing on the cake. I ordered the deluxe vinyl edition straight away. The only downside is this edition doesn't come with a download version, so I've ended up purchasing it twice so I have it available on my iPod. But that's the only downside of the 12", and I wouldn't have done this if the album wasn't totally worth it. Moderat's II is different from their first album in a couple of ways; the only primary vocal used across the album is that of Sasha RIng (Apparat), and in general the album feels more 'pop' in style. Don't let this put you off, we're not talking cliched, 'saturday night on the lash' style pop, but more refined, genuine songwriting. It blends being catchy with being a serious work of electronica perfectly, so its never cheesy and always fully absorbing. The vocal tracks ('Bad Kingdom', 'Let the Light in', 'Gita', 'Damage Done', and on the cd/download deluxe edition, 'last time') are scattered throughout the album amongst superb instrumentals, the best of which include the dramatic 'Versions' and 'This TIme' - the tune Moderat have been opening their live performances of the album with. I was fortunate to be at the Eastern Electrics festival at Knebworth Park where Moderat performed their album launch for 'II'. Alongside a superb DJ Set from DJ Koze, this performance was the highlight of the whole festival for me. It seemed to connect with the crowd in a way quite unlike anything else on show, so I'd recommend going to a live show if you get the chance too. For me, only Bonobo's 'The North Borders' & Apparat's 'Kreig Und Frieden' can match Moderat's 'II' this year. Bad Kingdom, Versions & Gita are all right up there with the very best tracks of the year, and I hope 'II' becomes 'III' in the not too distant future, as the modeselektor-Apparat partnership is too good to be exhausted across just a couple of fine albums. 5/5

Chapeau bas l'artiste.
