In November 2008, John Hattie’s ground-breaking book Visible Learning synthesised the results of more than fifteen years research involving millions of students and represented the biggest ever collection of evidence-based research into what actually works in schools to improve learning. Visible Learning for Teachers takes the next step and brings those ground breaking concepts to a completely new audience. Written for students, pre-service and in-service teachers, it explains how to apply the principles of Visible Learning to any classroom anywhere in the world. The author offers concise and user-friendly summaries of the most successful interventions and offers practical step-by-step guidance to the successful implementation of visible learning and visible teaching in the classroom. This book: links the biggest ever research project on teaching strategies to practical classroom implementation champions both teacher and student perspectives and contains step by step guidance including lesson preparation, interpreting learning and feedback during the lesson and post lesson follow up offers checklists, exercises, case studies and best practice scenarios to assist in raising achievement includes whole school checklists and advice for school leaders on facilitating visible learning in their institution now includes additional meta-analyses bringing the total cited within the research to over 900 comprehensively covers numerous areas of learning activity including pupil motivation, curriculum, meta-cognitive strategies, behaviour, teaching strategies, and classroom management. Visible Learning for Teachers is a must read for any student or teacher who wants an evidence based answer to the question; ‘how do we maximise achievement in our schools?’ Review: A Must Read for All Educators - Whether you are a classroom teacher, school leader, or involved in training educators, you should always keep a copy Visible Learning for Teachers close by. This is both a great reference for educational research and a comprehensive guide for planning and presenting meaningful instruction to students of all levels. Hattie's work can also serve as a standard against which other educational publications can be measured. I have noticed that he is widely quoted and misquoted by other authors who seem to be trying to ride the wake of his astounding work. Read Hattie first. Review: Good information - This book has great information

What Works Best, Not Just What Works
This text is an excellent text for an administrative team to read together. I would advocate that they also read his other work. For any administrators who are engaged in creating data profiles of their schools and putting into the hands of their teachers scripted curriculum that makes grandiose claims of success, this book will help to enrich the conversation about "Why are we doing this? and Why are we doing this this way?"

Visivle Learning for Teachers
This is a great work, it really takes the guess work, out of what works (Good Research). Which has in the past been the rule of the day in education for so many years. It is time to stop the statement, "This will past, and we will gone to next BEST things" (The Cycle). Fads have been the rule of the day " Please! Just the Facts". Dr. Taylor, Toureno D.

Teachers are the Major Players in the Education Process
John Hattie does a wonderful job of taking research and illuminating how teachers make a visible difference in student learning. Creating lifelong learners is the goal of teachers who are learning experts. Every legislator in our country needs to study the work of John Hattie and look to the successes of other countries like Finland. Investing in teachers who can make learning "visible" is the answer to our economic crisis. Education is the answer!

Good book
This book goes a little over my head with the statistics but is very interesting. I am not very far into it but have already used the student survey with my students. Very research based.

Brilliant new book
Hattie's latest is like his previous work, Visible Learning: it is a great read full of ideas that are able to be implemented in classrooms and across schools straight away. Key ideas are repeated at various times so you come away with some essential tools that are easy to recall.

Changed my life
This book has become the foundation for all of the work I do. I serve as a Special Education administrator and now reference this as we look to trying new strategies, providing professional learning for teachers, and prioritizing time for different things (e.g. test prep vs. progress monitoring). It's a regular reference for me. The only con is that it's not available on Kindle yet so I can't have it with me everywhere I go!

Insightful logical reasoning, but repetitive
This book was breath of fresh air. I was refreshed with an objective and unbiased look at what works and what doesn't work -without the spin. It is filled with practical exercises to throw straight into the classroom. It is insightful, giving many examples from studies and some from personal experience. However, it does get repetitive towards the final chapters. Nevertheless I gave it five stars because of what it has "visibly"done and doing to my teaching practice. I highly recommend this teachers who want to increase their impact on their learners.

Was oft nicht so gut?

No doubt one of the best
A must in Neuroeducation. Hattie is one of the best references. His meta analysis has made contributions to the field.

terribile
Il libro è buono ma l’impaginazione e un sacco di caratteri estranei lo rendono illeggibile!!! Un grande peccato per una risorsa così importante

Brand new
I liked the speedy delivery and the fact that despite being used, the book was in Perfecto condition. A great deal considering that the new book costs about $60.
