This is a great hammer tenderizer. It has a flat side, which I use to flatten my chicken so it cooks faster, I also use it to smash up cookies and crackers , even breadcrumbs for certain recipes. I do this in a zip bag. The textured side is to tenderize your red meats. I don't use this too often, but it works great. This hammer is easy to hold on to and has a great sized head to cover a lot of ground when smashing. Great buy!
