He's 5'4" and normally wears a 14 or 14 slim in jeans. These are loose fitting but he likes them that way. Plenty of length, maybe even an inch or two to grow into, but I wouldn't say they're too long. No need for a drawstring since the waist fits him perfectly. They haven't shrunk or changed whatsoever. I would 100% recommend these pants! We've had them for just over 6 months a pair for our 14yr old & for our 11yr boys & no issues! We live in a city that is cold most of the year so even in June our kids are still wearing pants off and on.
