It is very stable with barely any movement in the arms when rising. The arms can be adjusted fore and back but I find the forward position best and no further adjustment needed. If the toilet is near to a bath it is a great help when getting into and especially out of the bath. Assembly is reasonably easy, but the item is heavy so it may need two people although I managed it alone.
