It depends on the software (the piano program) which key should be touched to play a C. The Makey Makey can emulate a bunch of keys (not all). Suppose your piano program plays a C when you press the space bar on your keyboard. With a Makey Makey you can do the same by 1) connecting your C-banana with the contact point labelled "space bar" on the Makey Makey; 2) connecting the piano player (person) with the contact point labelled "ground" on the Makey Makey (and of course connecting the Makey Makey to your computer). Definitely a great, cost-effective way to build STEM into your kids' lives! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fun *by K***E on July 4, 2026* Fun learning activity for my 7 year old scientist ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Definitely has the cool factor *by S***9 on December 6, 2014* One hour in, and this is a WOW! I debuted it with four teen-age girls having a slumber party, and they were engaged and impressed. It's certainly science/engineering in action. I heard several say they want it for Christmas. That said, it remains to be seen whether this will have any staying power -- I'll try to report back and see if this stays in the rotation or gathers dust. The product is easy to use right out of the box, except for one thing: I'm on a Mac, and I got a weird error message about how it couldn't detect the keyboard (it sees the Makey Makey as a keyboard). The instructions and MM site were no help, but somebody said on a blog just to ignore that message, which I did, with success. Last thing, and I feel bad even saying this, but it comes in such a small box that it seems to be of less value than it actually is. I hate gigantic, unnecessary packaging, but on the other hand, the small box suggests that it is an item of less value. BTW, I bought the kit on sale for $40. The list price says $70.
