Thoughtful of manufacturer to include pilot hole drill 3.2 mm (1/8”) Phillips head screws are a pain to install when in awkward position on a ladder. Torx, Allen Head or Square drive screws that stay on driver recommended. I did parallel plate installation on right hand door. Easier to install foot to parallel plate and adjust arm length if you temporarily disassemble 2 arms where they join at pivot.
