Doing a project that required punching holes in a fairly thick cardboard my old style chrome ones that we all seem to have when we were kids in school just did not hold up and bet so I ordered this and wow, not only does it punch card board It goes through 2 to 3 equivalent to about 7 to 10 pages of paper with ease. Definitely a great buy.

A couple of things I noticed that aren’t mentioned in other reviews. The latch that holds the punch closed can be operated from both sides of the punch. Seems like a small thing, but convenient for lefties like me. The other thing is that there is a mark on the front of the punch, and measurement marks along the sides to show exactly where the hole is going to be centered. The chamber to catch the punches is nice and big as well. It cuts through card stock very easily. The only down side is that it seems to be designed for a man’s large hands. When it is open, the reach is almost too much to get my fingers around it. If you have very small hands, this may not be for you. My glove size is a woman’s average. I wish the handles were just a little longer to provide leverage, and how wide it opens was a little less. It will do the job I need it for very well, so it is a keeper.

We had a paper punch with colored handles that we had paid a premium for from a scrapbook place. When we were punching through a couple of layers getting ready for Christmas, our punch collapsed on itself. We were going to replace it and saw this one. It is supposed to be able to punch through multiple layers, cardboard, and really heavy stuff. It sounded perfect for different craft projects that we might do. Plus it had nice looking cushioned handles. Since it was only a couple of dollars more than the old one, we sent for it. This first one we got, the compartment that holds the punches fell out when we opened it. There didn't seem to be any way to put it back in. We sent it back (Amazon paid postage), and very quickly received another punch. This one had all the parts attached, and worked as claimed. We immediately started punching different items--from thin to thick--and it worked great. Your hand doesn't feel the pressure, not matter how heavy the material. Be aware that this is a bit larger on the part that you push. I have small hands, and am able to do it. Wish it was a tad smaller, but like it, and like what it is able to do. I am also thrilled it doesn't hurt my hands like the old one did. Very happy with the purchase, and recommend.

High quality item. So well made. Punches right thru thick card stock with minimal hand strength, required. I have arthritis in my hands and this punch is easy to hold and operate. Handy features include slide-lock, raised positioning guide and easy to open/empty punch tag collector. The punched hole is perfectly round and smooth. Great price for a tool of this quality. It will last a lifetime.

I ordered this Power Punch because it was advertised as cutting fabric. It does not as you can see in the first photo. As you can see in the second photo, the punch part has 2 metal projections and this does not allow for a clean hole in fabric, at least not in the fabric that I had. I tried the punch through 4 layers of fabric and with cardboard as a backing. I never got a clean hole in the material (although I did get a clean hole in the cardboard). Before sending it back, I thought I would try it on other items. The first was a small notepad (3rd photo) with thick cardboard and quite a few sheets. Got a neat hole as you can see. (If you punch a hole from the cardboard side, the paper does not wrinkle.) Second, I tried the back of another small notebook. This was thick hardboard. Again, a neat hole. I also cut a plastic credit card with ease. The last item I cut was the shipping bag the punch came in - again I got hanging chads. So, this punch is great for thick, solid item. Not so great with thinner, more flexible items. Another plus point is that it is also an ease to manage with the thicker items. As some others have said, it cuts through them like butter. So I'm keeping it and would recommend it to anyone who wants to cut thick items not thin material.

Nice hole punch, low effort action

I am part of a gonzo manufacturing operation. I use this for one of the products we make. Took me years to find a hole punch of this caliber. I can attest that you can easily punch over a five hundred thousand holes through thick, tough material with one of these things before the spring mech gives out. Though if you're gonna punch a ton of holes in one sitting, you'll want to grind off the flap that collects the punchouts so you don't have to stop and empty it. No matter how heavily I've used it, it has never bothered my hand. It takes a little use to be able to eyeball exactly where the hole is going to be punched, looking down from the top. At first I used electrical tape to make a little bullseye on the top of the hole punch, so i could know where the hole would be. Just saying, if this thing can become a tool in a factory and stand up to heavy use, you can probably count on it for most tasks, no problem. Aside from its dedicated use, it has been used by my cohorts to punch through cardboard, leather, stacks of paper, and who knows what else.

I used this to punch holes in zippered pencil storage bags that are made of water-resistant Oxford cloth. The Strong Oxford fabrics are Hard and waterproof. This punch worked like a charm!

Much better than my old, generic bent sheet metal croppers. The built-in garbage tray is neat, everything seems quite good. Moving metal parts are well made, oiled and very sharp. Measure twice, cut once!

As expected working well for professional

This is a very strong punch that easily punches through a lot of different papercrafting materials. It’s also suitable for a smaller lady’s hand too. I also like how there’s a clip to keep it closed when not in use which makes for easier storage.
