This fits just right in the tailgate, perfect height for a 3ft antenna. You do have to use a low profile wire with this original version. I choose one with a tip not soldiered on to allow easy wiring inside the Jeep. The install feels sturdy and the antenna is placed where there is no contact with the brake or window. Ground is good when checking with the meter. Definitely recommend for a tire carrier mounted antenna!
