Pro Tec Saxophone Harness with Deluxe Metal Trigger Snap, Large, Model A306M, Black

I'm an older euphonium player who is starting to experience muscle stress and pain from supporting the instrument. I tried a number of solutions - holster-style harnesses, non-holster-style harnesses, slings, lap pads, and peg-style supports for euphonium and tuba. The solution that worked for me was this baritone sax harness plus a general-purpose strap extender. The latter has a metal ring on one end and a loop on the other, so I can attach the saxophone harness' clip to the ring, and secure the strap extender to tubing on the euphonium with the loop. Comfortable, secure, and adjustable.

I bought this harness primarily for my bari sax, since that's a bit of a heavy horn to support with my neck. This harness is comfortable and easy to adjust, and securely clips to the horn. I'm 5'-9" and bought the Large harness to use with my bari and tenor horns. It works great for me on both. I use a traditional neckstrap with alto. The harness has a strap that buckles in front - it's how you get the harness on and off. Once buckled, this front strap also has the sprung clasp to clip to the horn. The clasp hardware is metal, smooth, and black. I would not trust plastic clasps that other harnesses have to hold my $$$ horn. This harness is adjusted by adjusting the side straps like a backpack. I don't have any complaints or even minor negatives about this harness, it may be the best saxophone accessory I've ever purchased.

I played bari in high school and used a regular neck strap except when marching. Worked just fine for years. Fast forward to being in my 40s, and the neck strap alone just wasn't cutting it when I finally got my own bari. :) I tried the cheap harness that came with the bari, a Jazzlab saxholder, and the Gemini harness. None of them worked well for my tall, thin frame with bony shoulders. I decided to try the Pro Tec before springing $$$ for the Vandoren harness contraption that Leo P. uses, and I'm glad I did!! This harness is amazing. Super comfortable, easy to adjust, and never slips. I'm used to constantly adjusting my neck strap between songs, but this harness stays exactly where I put it. Buy it. You'll like it.

I got this to try to replace my neck strap on alto and tenor. It seems like it will do just fine. The harness is comfortable and adjusts to a pretty wide range. Unfortunately it takes quite a while to adjust to different instruments so I'm not sure how to work it to try to go quickly between instruments. Also, the hook is not smooth. It jerks and catches a bit, but maybe it just needs to be oiled. Overall it's good and some of the kinks will be worked out as I use it more.

I am a newbie to saxophone and have been watching and listening to veteran players since I ordered mine. One theme that stuck out to me was that many veteran saxophone players kept mentioning neck issues. After all it is a relatively heavy instrument to hang from your neck. I first bought a padded neck strap and it’s fine but I know that I did not want to start issues with my neck from the start and decided to buy a harness style strap for my tenor. As a beginner, I knew that I would be spending hours with my tenor practicing and this is very comfortable for me to use. I am a larger 6 ft 1in male. Perhaps it may not be the best solution for the ladies. It only takes a few seconds to put on and get going. The adjustments seem to stay put better than my neck strap which over time seems to slowly pull down. This is a win for me practicing 2-3 hours a day in total comfort.

Awesome choice takes the weight off of your neck and evenly distributes onto your shoulders.

Got this Large size for my Conn bass sax. This body strap works well, although for a bass sax it requires tightening up the side straps a considerable amount to get the mouthpiece at the right height to comfortably reach my mouth. I'm 6'1", 175 lbs with 41" chest. The loops under my arms are fairly tight against my body. If someone has a large frame and is stocky, this may be too tight for comfortable or practical fitting for a bass sax.

Just got it and try it, it transfer te pressure from neck to shoulders But it need time to find a good spot to fit yourl mouth piece to your mouth I will keep it, because it is cheaper and look solid.

Good quality product that fits my nine year old daughter perfectly. No more sore neck.

I tried a cheaper versions of this type of sax harness and had to send it back. The main issue was poor quality of the instrument hook, which could badly scratch the instrument, and the ease of adjustment of the straps and buckles. The Protec harness wasn't much more expensive and has just been designed with more attention to detail. The instrument hook is metal, but coated in a soft plastic to prevent scratches. The harness strap buckles are also easier to adjust which helps to get a good fit.

I wish I had purchased this one first. I had upper cervical spine surgery and playing the sax with a typical lanyard type of holder put terrible strain on my neck and I’d have a blistering headache in under 10 mins. This equally distributes the weight of the instrument.
