This is a great movie! I’d say it’s my husbands most recent favorite since he has watched it at least a dozen times since we got it a couple of weeks ago! 🤩

Super movie with great actors. Can't understand why it didn't get more attention. Saw it in the theater, great graphics.

I am sure this is a quality DVD. I have not been able to watch this movie because my Blue Ray DVD player states this DVD has a colour format that is incompatible with my machine. Waiting for refund

I believe you have to be good actors to pull off a 2 person movie. I liked the mystery. Kept me on my toes and I didn't figure out the ending like I usually do. Nice sci do romance

I love space movies but there are very few good ones that worth watching them again. This film was perfect for my taste. The special effect is excellent. The characters were perfect, specially the barman robot. Very balanced film with no gaps to bore you, even though it had only 4 characters in total with only two playing most of the film you would not feel it. The have worked out the science brilliantly, not not most scifis that you have to shut of your brain's logic module to enjoy it. Jennifer Lawrence was excellent here. Usually female actresses do not make too much impression on me but they are getting better and better. She is fit and on the job all the time. You cannot take you eyes off her. I love the spaceship design and the theory behind it. They must have used some good science advice, like in Interstellar. I hope Hollywood realises that the viewers are getting more and more scientifically literate and they should not underestimate their intelligence. I love to see more films like this. The story was excellent. Brilliant writing for a change. There was just couple of scientific inaccuracies, which was expected. One was the space debris hit the ship, which was travelling at half the speed of light. If that was real the ship would have vaporised.

This got slated by the usual popular press critics and if you're looking for the next 'all action blockbuster sci-fi adventure movie', then this definitely isn't for you. If, however, you're looking for a nice, feel-good movie with subtle humour, a good storyline, and beautifully designed sets and amazing special effects that don't scream 'look how clever we are' and where you feel you are in the room with the characters, then this is one to watch. Without wanting to spoil it, my favourite character is the barman exquisitely played by Michael Sheen, who at first seems may lessen the loneliness but speaks volumes about the complexity of human nature that machines are likely never to match. Jennifer Lawrence has recently distanced herself from this film, seemingly bowing to pressure from the critics which I think is to her detriment, as all three main characters put in a fantastic performance. The only weak point is Lawrence Fishbourne's brief appearance with ropey acting and cheesy lines. This part of the film seems very much like a rush job, with no time to develop the character (or fishboune's performance). The last 3rd of the storyline in general does seem rushed, which is a shame, but then I guess they have to fit it into the 'blockbuster' timeslot. The usual movie nerds all shout about the holes in the plot, seemingly forgetting that the genre contains the word 'fiction' and the fact that interstellar space travel is in my opinion the biggest 'hole' in any sci-fi plot of you want to take that stance. If you accept the story is about two people and human nature and just happens to be set aboard a spaceship, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Passengers is a science fiction movie. One of those rare breed of those which is an original story rather than an adaptation. And a stand alone film, rather than a sequel or part of a franchise. Set on a huge spaceship carrying people on an interstellar voyage to a planet suitable for human colonisation. The length of the journey means people have to spend nearly all of it in suspended animation, and will only wake when they are very close to the end of the voyage. That's the plan. So it comes as a surprise to Jim [Chris Pratt] to find he's woken up early. But there's nothing to say why. It's decades till the end of the trip. And he's alone. With no way to get back into suspended animation. Initially he only has robot barman Arthur [Michael Sheen] for company. But then he's no longer alone. As Aurora [Jennifer Lawrence] is awake as well. Can the two form a relationship and help each other live? They face two dangers. Those of interstellar travel. And secrets... This is not an action science fiction movie. It's a character drama first and foremost. Although there is a tonal change in the third and final act. Which it does build to quite nicely. Science fiction of this kind is always strong because it uses the format to ask questions about the human condition, and make you think about those questions as it asks them. What it considers is the human need for companionship, and how our goals and desires for what we don't currently have can get in the way of what we do possess. There is a big moral dilemma at the heart of it, but if you can get past that and consider the big question of it, things will work fine. With a small cast it needs good acting to make it work. And this it gets. Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence are both very amiable and likeable performers, so they manage to make their characters the same, and thus you can feel for them and what they go through. There's excellent support from Michael Sheen as well, in a role that gets more growth than you might expect. Story does kick in, as mentioned, in time to provide drama and resolution. And a memorable ending as a result. A good bit of science fiction, which will stay with you for a while. With some very good acting in it. Not a bad watch. Nine minutes about the genesis of the film and casting. A good depth to this as a featurette, with some interesting character insight. On set with Chris Pratt: four minutes of a tour of the sets. Short but fun. Creating the Avalon: nine minutes about the set design. A fascinating look at how that was done, and how a designer works Outtakes from the set: four minutes of outtakes. Some of which is just giggling, but a lot of it is genuinely funny. Book your passage: four minute long films designed for the movie as adverts for the company who own the ship. They can be watched all in a row or individually. And are all quite good. There's also the usual flyer with code for downloading copy of the film onto a digital device.
