So when that happens, i will lose access to my account unless I keep my original VIP registered as a backup. But that puts me back to square one. Only real option is the get locked out of the account once the battery dies and call the bank to regain access using my social and other identifying information. Contact them after you get the token and give them the credential ID so it will work for your account. **Q: Do these expire after a certain amount of time or uses?** A: No but the battery will eventually die ...it will take a long time to die **Q: Can it be reprogrammed?** A: I agree & disagree with the above answer. No you can't reprogram it. But nothing is "stored" inside either. These things use a calculation to generate #'s. It's now April 2024 and one of the Symantec One Time Password Display Token batteries is dead. There is no support on Symantec's web site for this and there is little information and none of it addresses the battery. Other searches show the battery should last about 8 years and that the battery is not replaceable. Amazon's customer service offers no help beyond the 30 day return policy. I searched other Amazon reviews and now I see others complaints about dead batteries. Look for or search dead battery reviews on this item.
