Review: You Should Probably Buy This - The Origin Story: I'm a mid-twenty-something with computing proclivities including (but not limited to) video editing, music production, PC gaming, Unity/Unreal game development, and media streaming. Despite my compulsion to work from home even when I'm off the clock, I seem to always lean on the 'broke' side. If you fit any of these descriptors, this monitor is absolutely FOR YOU. I purchased one Used-Like New via desertcart Warehouse for $235, and another New at Best Buy for $250 over Black Friday weekend. Now, every time I enter my nerd den at home, I feel as fancy as a posh poodle in pearls. The Pros: - Stellar. Graphics. - Superior. Connectivity. - Sleek. Design. - Simple. Usability. As most other 24-year-old white girls would say, "I can't even right now." It's so great. I play mainly RPG games like The Witcher, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, etc., and this monitor pulls you into those magnificent worlds. The color fidelity and the greyscale seem spectacular, whether on Steam or Netflix. I am not a serious online FPS gamer, so I can't tell you just how perfect this monitor is for attaining otherworldly kill streaks in a high-intensity CS:GO or Overwatch death match, but I can tell you this monitor's refresh rate is a dramatic upgrade from the 2011 Samsung monitor I had been using. The product's design and user-friendliness are very intuitive; I was ready to go after about 10 minutes assembly and set-up. There is a small 'knob' (joystick? fiddlestick? I'm not sure of the technical term) on the back right side that is maneuvered and pressed to go through the various menus. Maybe it's just easy because I took out thousands of dollars of loans to achieve a satisfactory college education. Maybe I'm just projecting. I'm sure it will be easy for you, too, with or without the student loans. The Cons: - Brightness, I guess. - Limited maneuverability, I suppose. It isn't very easy to adjust this monitor; you can't move it vertically up or down, the tilt angles cannot go too extreme. The colors seemed a bit washed out when I first turned it on, which I easily adjusted via the brightness and contrast menus. Honestly, my biggest complaint is that occasionally non-4K images and programs look a bit pixelated, but that is a problem I can live with given the trade-offs. Final Opinion: If you are multitasker who needs the screen space, buy this. If you are gamer anywhere between casual and advanced who wants a more immersive experience, buy this. If you want to impress friends with pictures of your "crazy-cool set-up," buy this. If you are a broke twenty-something who wants a monitor that screams "Does not regularly eat ramen to avoid buying groceries," buy this.
Review: Everything I wanted it to be. Very pleased. - Carefully researched and ordered for enjoying UHD programming and 4K home videos. I can't really understand the big deal people are making about the stand on this item. If installed properly it is as solid (or better) than any I've had before. I never move my monitor anyway because it is carefully set at my eye-level and the proper distance. I like the easy operation of the joy-stick control on the back... much simpler and easier than the push buttons that always have me grumbling. Very bright, very clear, but not a wide viewing angle at all, which again does not matter to me unless I'm trying to show something to someone else, which seldom happens. I spend at least 10 hours each and every day on this computer and I decided I deserve a good, large screen with good color and brightness. I'm just getting into 4K movies and ultra high quality photography (don't expect me to impress you with knowledge I have yet to obtain) and of course need the best resolution I can afford. This is the one. Half the price it used to be, certainly better quality than my own vision. My setup: Desktop: ASUS M32HD with GTX750Ti graphics, displayport connection to this monitor. Camera: Panasonic Lumix G7HK It's a happy Christmas for me! UPDATE 12/26/15: I too had the same problem many other buyers had, that letting the computer sleep caused problems. My problem manifested itself by losing the taskbar. I read the complaints here and ABOUT OTHER BRANDS OF MONITORS having the same problem. It seemed to me that the difficulty was with the displayport cable that was included. I ordered a better cable and hooked in my HDMI cable while I wait for it to arrive. Using HDMI 2.0 straight out of the graphics card works just fine for everything I tried and worked fine with my 4K G7 camera... positively stunning. I will let you know what happens with the new displayport cable. INFO 12/30/15: New displayport cable did not fix any issues. I'm not convinced enough to order a really expensive one as suggested. Could be the graphics card causing the problem, but since things work well otherwise, I will just not use the sleep option at all... it has been a habit just because I can quickly press a keyboard button and head off to bed at night. I'll just turn things off instead. The HDMI 2.0 setup worked ok but caused jitter at times on the simple windows frames. No other input at this time... happy new year. Summarized Revisit: Now halfway through 2018 I know that almost all of the battles I had with this monitor and dozens of other things have ALL been caused by flaws in Windows 10 and attempted updates for those. The big updates left me with the biggest problems, some lasting for months until another update suddenly made them go away. Nothing was wrong with the monitor, graphics card upgrade or any cables.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this Samsung product free of fire/explosions?**
A: ARE YOU KIDDING!!! I have seen some really awesome fires and explosions on this screen!! It reproduces the UHD video so well you feel like you're right there in the middle of it all! (Using TWO of these!)
As for the monitor itself, not even a hiccup! With TWO, it;s double the treat and the main reason I don't have a VR headset. It is pretty impressive playing most games at 2K (2560x1440) as most games do NOT run so well at 4K! I play Black Desert Online, World of Warcraft, and Elite Dangerous (Among others) and BDO and ED are fantastic on this monitor. Not to mention how well Windows 10 Pro works with these.

**Q: Hi. does the u28e590d come with an hdmi 2.0 cable?**
A: It comes with a both an HDMI cable and a DP cable, however it doesn't say if its HDMI 2.0 or not. I ended up buying a longer cable as it was only 6-8 feet long.On the back of the monitor there are TWO HDMI connectors, HDMI 1 is for a HDMI 1.4 cable (4k @ 30Hz) HDMI 2 is for a HDMI 2.0 cable (4k @ 60Hz), so make sure you use the correct plug based on the cable.

**Q: What kind of cable does one use to connect this at full resolution to a newer model Macbook Pro?**
A: If by "newer", you mean either a mid-2014 or mid-2015 models with the retina display, you need to use the mini-displayport (really Thunderbolt, Apple's name) cable. You will get the full 3840X2160 video at 60Hz. If you use the HDMI port of your MBP (15" only), here are the resolutions you can get:Support for 1080p resolution at up to 60HzSupport for 3840-by-2160 resolution at 30HzSupport for 4096-by-2160 resolution at 24Hz

**Q: Can i use this as my xbox one monitor?**
A: Yes, you can. I use it with my Xbox Series X and it displays perfectly in 4K/60fps when plugged into HDMI 2 port. (Note: Both the HDMI 2 and DisplayPort can display 4K/60fps, but not HDMI 1)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Screen, VESA mounting annoying, minor PC issues
*by A***R on August 15, 2018*

Overall I have found that like this monitor, though I did run into a few minor issues. I've had it for about a month so far. I'll do a bullet list below to be concise, and expand on my pros/cons after: PROS: *28", 4k display, 60Hz refresh *Good Brightness/Contrast *Multiple ports for connections (2 HDMI, 1 display port), and ability to switch input. *Audio output (standard 1/8" jack, though I've not needed it yet) *Basically everything in the specs that I bought it for were delivered. CONS: *Included stand WAY too short to be comfortable *VESA mounting (75mm X 75mm by the way) is on the top edge of the monitor. *Minor PC issues. Disconnection when sleeping, and resizing icons when waking up PROS EXPLAINED: All of the plus's are pretty self explanatory. The monitor delivered what it promised. I screenshot my detailed display information within my Radeon settings (running a R9 270x), if it matters to anyone. CONS EXPLAINED: So, the monitor stand that came with it is too short. The monitor rests MAYBE 3 or 4 inches from the surface of the desk, which means that the top is about 18 or so inches from the surface of the desk. That resulted in me stacking a few board game boxes to prop it up until I bought a monitor stand. The VESA mounting plate isn't centered on the back of the display, as someone else pointed out, but it is shifted towards the top (see pics). This is annoying for two reasons: my old monitor mount is no longer tall enough to hold this one up, and there's no way to turn it sideways if I ever desired to do such. To solve this, I purchased a "standing at desk" monitor stand (search "VIVO STAND-V011"). I found that roughly 22 inches above desk height to center of VESA was comfortable. The monitor is stable enough to rotate on a desk mount, as long as you can lock rotation, otherwise the offset weight will make it want to swing back down. Minor PC issues: I've run into a couple of things. I'm using Windows 10 1803. *When the PC turns off display after you walk away, this monitor sees itself as being disconnected, and will attempt to reconnect again, and again, and again, rather than just turning itself off. Minor annoyance. *But, it leads to another issue: Because the monitor considered itself "disconnected", it was no longer the "main" monitor for that brief moment until you wake up the PC when it becomes the main again, and now my icons have re-sized and scrunched up (I'll try to upload a comparison image later). OVERALL: My overall impressions are that for $250, it's not a bad monitor, especially delivering 4k at 28". Now, I'm not exactly happy with Amazon for deceiving me into thinking that $250 was a prime-day special sale price, but that's on Amazon, not the monitor. My primary cons were dealt with by buying a monitor stand tall enough to deal with it. The only annoyance I have now are the minor pc issues, which could be the monitor, or could just be something weird with my setup. 4/5 stars seems about right. If samsung re-positioned the VESA, and included a taller monitor stand, I think that'd be enough for me to give it 5 stars.
