I would rate it 5 stars, but mine arrived with dust and fibers INSIDE of the screen. Very distracting to the image. Yes, I took the plastic film cover off, polished the screen, etc... trust me, they're inside the screen. I'll try to post a few pics of said fibers.UPDATE: Amazon quickly sent me a replacement, so 5 STARS on that. However, the new monitor still has dust inside of the screen. I guess Aputure doesn't have a very good manufacturing facility, or maybe the product isn't perfectly sealed. I guess that's just the way it's going to be with it.To sum up: A very good, dust plagued, monitor. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Way better than the price would have you believe *by M***E on January 25, 2014* I wanted a DSLR monitor but was wary of Liliput simply because there were so many mixed reviews on Amazon of the differing models and configurations for seemingly arbitrary prices. Marshall and SmallHD are simply too much monitor for what I want. So I did some digging on Amazon and found this puppy. I had never heard of it, but the price was right. Since its arrival, it has absolutely exceeded my expectations.It was packed in a really professional-feeling box, very well-presented. The screen lights up fairly quickly, and you see that glorious 7 inches. It comes with a much nicer sunshade than I was expecting for the price, as well as some HDMI cabling and adapters and a wall wort. It takes Sony camcorder batteries which you can get for cheap on Amazon. Even the smaller variant of the battery seems to go and go in this thing.It's very, very lightweight. Almost scary so, but the build quality is very nice. Even things like a nicely applied logo go a long way in products of this price range. I only use the HDMI input, so I can't speak to the other one, but it is excellent. I've tested it with my camera, my cable box (for fun), and also with my laptop (which was really nice because the monitor has its own RGB calibration setting and I could get it pretty darn close to true color).The hot buttons on the front are nice and user programmable (left and right are one function, up and down the other)- Functions that can be programmed include brightness, contrast, zoom, mono(Red channel, Green, Blue, and black and white), volume (for the tinny speaker that's in it- though nicely enough it also has a headphone monitoring port- which might be nice for those of you with a DSLR camera that doesn't have a dedicated headphone jack), aspect ratio, and a camera setting which punches the screen into roughly the full frame of a DSLR video monitor (since at least on my 60D it doesn't normally take up the entire screen).The shoe mount included is kind of whatever, and I'm sure I'll get a better one in the future, but for now it pretty much does its job. Kind of touchy.It does take about 2-3 seconds to refresh the screen whenever going into a menu, checking playback, or going to record, so keep that in mind.So if you're looking for another monitor for a camera, but not wanting to break the bank, and maybe aren't enamored with Lilliput's offerings, this gives you a solid choice. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ With firmware update 1.4 this is a great deal *by N***N on September 4, 2014* I checked B&H and Amazon and this is about as good as it gets.Shipped with firmware 1.2 which had some issues. Skip to bottom for original review.Works great with T3i. Only annoying thing is the blue screen that pops up just after you hit the record button.Screen Quality- set to camera mode uses majority of the screen real estate. Fairly accurate color and exposure representation.Sun Shade- decent. Has elastic bands that strap to the sides of the screen and can partially cover sides of screen at timesHDMI- Best option now that firmware 1.4 is available. Company is very responsive to questions via their website.STILL NO PEAKING or FALSE COLOR options. Wish it shipped with a battery.Other options-Lilliput screens in this price range are no better as far as image quality and battery optionsIkan screens- good luck finding one for under $400 in this screen size.Elvid - great screen quality but again you're looking at a $400 price tag.Conclusion: this screen is great for framing and adjusting exposure. Missing features like 1024 resolution, peaking, and false color. Spare batteries are inexpensive. Company support is good. Best Field monitor in this for under $200.With firmware 1.2HDMI - Unsteady picture. At times had static, stuttered/ choppy. Switched to RGB and the image was fine. Perhaps it's a software issue. I'm running the latest version as of 2013.Screen Size- Canon T3i- distorts the image on every mode. Switched to "camera mode" and the image was only undistorted on 4:3. Not much larger than the on camera screen.Image quality- Crushes the blacks and isnt 100% accurate but its not terrible. The image quality is pixelated compared to on camera screen but this is really just meant for framing your shots.Don't know if it's really worth the price.
