Is this the certified Beauty Blender or a copy?

Out of fear of this product being a fake, I investigated buying mine right from their website. They do have a statement on the website saying that "Lock and Mane" is a legit distributor of their beauty blender.

Yes, but WARNING: Pick your SELLER carefully or you may get a a FAKE! Click on the link that says, "NEW (8) FROM $17.99" (numbers change) and pick "beautyblender". If "beautyblender" isn't available, I wouldn't pick any of the other sellers unless you can guarantee they aren't selling fakes!

How would you store this compactly in a makeup kit so that it doesn't collect dirt and grime?

If you no longer have the container that it came in, I would suggest using a plastic Easter egg to store it in. It'll keep it free of germs when it's clean and it'll keep the foundation that's on it from transfering to other make up products or the inside of your makeup bag/purse when used.
